Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Kenneth Andrew Santucci

I only knew Kenney by a familiar, friendly face, I never knew him by name, but he always presented himself as a very likeable person to interact with and represented the Belleville PD well. I am very sorry & saddened to see this very friendly face leave so suddenly! When it involves an extended family member from my own personal experience find myself analyizing the tragic event, & my actions repeatedly over within my mind, & knowing the veteran paramedic trying in vein by your side, I personally find as we all do, very hard to accept it as destiny, and could only wish that in your case Kenney, we had the ability to overturn that for you! I am going to miss seeing your familiar, friendly presence when arriving on scenes and wish you eternal peace up above! My personal condolences go out to your family & friends!

"The Final Inspection"

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

Rest in peace Brother

To the Family of Office Santucci
Your complete family are in my families prayers during this dark time. My family is just starting to make it thru a lost of our own with the death of my future son in-law Josh Norris. Kenneth was taken to early and should of have had more time with you guys. I know words at this time will never stop the hurt, but know your Husband and Dad is not far from you, he is the whisper in the wind, that feeling of being hugged when no one is there, he will always be at your side watching over ever accomplishment and catching ever tear that you guys shed. What has helped my family and may help yours, remember your love ones laugh, his smile and all those things that are unique to him, since they are truly what made him. He is a true hero in every sense of the word and your police family extends it arms to you, if this one from Louisiana can do anything do not hesitate to ask. God bless you and may he give you strength.

Kenny.
I can never recall seeing your face without a smile on it. Or time spent with friends and family where your good humor wasn't lifting the spirits of all around you.
Though we'll all miss you, now is the time for your spirit to be lifted to a reward well earned.

Your loving family, friends, and the communities you served will all feel the loss of one truly, good man.

My deepest sympathy goes out to your family, and all of us who had the common priviledge to call you friend.

I was at the scene when Kenny and his partner Officer Melissa Corrado were initially injured. I left the scene and headed to Clara Mass Host. in Belleville, where Kenny died.

I was at the scene today with another Belleville Officer. I teared up. It was roped off, had flowers everywhere and candles were lit. I will be returning tomorrow with roses.

Some good news: Melissa, ( Officer Corrado ), was released from University Hospital today. She is going to make a 100% recovery!

I also would like to let everyone know that I will personally be printing this out and sharing it with Police Chief Joseph Rotonda along with the entire department. I will also make sure Mayor Kimble and Ken's wife and family get get a copy.

Please keep your kind words coming!

Thank you

Justin

Kenny, I dont know what to write. I dont want to accept the fact that your gone. You were a great partner and even a better friend. I never met anyone who would make me laugh whenever I talked to them. I cant fathom how a world could be so cruel that it could take someone so loved away from us. Im just thankful for having you for a friend the short time we were together. I will never forget you brother and always..always miss you.
