Reflections for Police Officer Joshua T. Miktarian

God Bless You, Ptl. Miktarian. You are a true hero and were called to Heaven well before your time. None of this tragedy makes sense. I pray that God gives your wife Holly the strength to get through these difficult days ahead. I'm sorry that your daughter will never know you, but caring people that love you will make sure she knows how much you loved her and how much she meant to you and Holly. Rest in peace, Josh.

Joshua how do I explain to our daughter what this man did to you, to me and to our family? How will she ever understand why someone would take you from her at 3 1/2 months of age? It isnt right and it isnt fair.

I miss you every second of the day.
I love you.

I worked for many years as an emergency room nurse and grew to respect the work done by all police officers. The loss of one is a tragedy for us all. To the wife and daughter of this brave officer I send my deepest sympathies on your loss. Officer Miktarian gave his life so that the world would be safer for all of us. Know that many will share your pain at the loss of your loved one. Thank you officer Miktarian for your sacrifice. Rest in peace.

Josh, No words can explain how I feel for you, our friendship, what we have gone through and what we all have lost. I know you probably don't want me to mourn your death the way that I am and for that reason I am sorry. I wish I could turn back the hands of time and been there for you but I know I can't. I'll be looking forward to the day that I see you again.
I LOVE YOU BROTHER

I met Josh a little over ten years when he worked with us briefly before joining Twinsburg PD. Unfortunately for me, it was an introduction and an occasional passing in the hall so I am not blessed my knowing him moreso. It is a tragic result of a thoughtless, irresponsible, and heinous act. Holly and Thea - you are in my family's prayers.

Josh - rest in peace knowing that you have done an excellent job, one that will be honored by others continuing your work and sharing your passion to improve this world.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Miktarian and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever.

To the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Miktarian, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Officer Miktarian is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family, and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

For those who pledge to uphold it, Freedom requires a sacrifice the protected will never know.

We may never understand it,
the risks these brave ones take,
but occasionally we see a bit
of the difference their lives make.

Some do it for the action,
others find it a callin'.
All find the satisfaction,
and few become the fallen.

Being an officer is what he loved,
To him as good as it gets.
Law was what he dreamed of,
He would have no regrets.

And though it saddens all of us
to lose him in this way
He knew how an officer must
Live life to the fullest everyday.

Know that you will not be forgotten. Not your smile, or your music, or your practical jokes, or the lessons you passed on while you were with us. You will not be forgotten. Rest now. We have the watch.

To the family of Officer Miktatian,

My thoughts can best be conveyed to you through an excerpt of a letter written November 21, 1864 by Abrahan Lincoln:

"I feel how weak and fruitless must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom."

God bless and keep you all.
