Reflections for Police Officer Joshua T. Miktarian

Not even a month has gone by that god took you home and there is a new list of officers on the main page of ODMP that have also been taken???????? WHY?

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
that wasn't mine to keep
though I worked a lot of overtime
when the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
among the people here.
They never wanted me around
except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
for the judgment of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
you’ve born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
you’ve done your time in hell"

Joshua, there is nothing that can be said when we lose a fellow officer, only Heaven has gained another angel that can look down upon the rest of us to keep us safe. As a LEO, I cannot understand why our world is so full of hate and malice. Maybe now GOD himself can let you in on what's happening. I pray for your family, your baby and wife. We will keep them safe and always keep them in our prayers. Your baby girl will one day know how great a man you are and understand the hero you are to the rest of us. Please look down upon the rest of us and keep us safe as we make our own traffic stops and deal with the evil on earth. I'm sorry....Rest in peace.

I attended the bike rally on 7-26-08 and was in awe of the amount of support showed.

We are very proud to live in Twinsburg and we will continue to show support to the entire Twinsburg Police Force thru this very long journey of healing.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Miktarin family and also with Bagio.

Josh, the pain eases as each day passes but I still find what happened to you so hard to believe. I know you are watching over all of us from above and that spiritually you will be there to guide Holly and Thea along this difficult path they must follow without you. Please keep them and your fellow officers safe. You will always be a hero in my eyes....rest peacefully, you are safe now.

"Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep

I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond's glint on snow

I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn's rain

When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft stars that shine at night

Do not stand on my grave and cry
I am not there. I did not die"

My deepest sympathy to the loved ones of Joshua. There are no magic words I can offer to help with your grief except to keep his memory alive and that the members of the Blue Family look after his loved ones. He is a true hero and he will never be forgotten.

To Officer Miktarian:
Sir, your sacrafice is deep, and everlasting, in the hearts, and the souls of every Officer, Trooper, Deputy and Dispatcher. Your sacrafice is ultimate... and will never, NEVER, be forgotten. A true hero never dies, he only serves to walk the beat in another form. We have the watch from here, please stand next to, and behind each of us, give us the strength to continue on.

To your family:
There are no words that can possibly express the condolences to you for making the ultimate sacrafice. To Mrs. Miktarian, and Little One, please know that you are not alone. You will grow to be proud of your father, and while it will be hard, do not let bitterness grow. You have a family in every law enforcement official in the world. We are all a family. Never forget this.
