To the family and friends of Officer Todd Bahr and his fellow officers, and most especially to Todd:

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Officer Bahr was tragically killed.

To Todd's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in the Bay Area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Todd gave to his community and the citizens of Virginia, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on June 6, 2008

To those who loved Officer Bahr, my heart goes to you all. Know that you're not alone in this journey you walk. I lost my fiance in the line of duty January 2003 and my world was forever changed. It's been a long hard road, and even as time as gone forward, and I've found many reasons and ways to smile, I still have not forgotten the man that he was. Dennis was a beautiful person and he forever has a part of my heart, just as I'm sure Todd will always be a part of yours.

It takes a special person to put their lives on the line everyday to make this world a little safer for us all. I know many of these men never would've thought of themselves as "heroes" but they were in so many ways. It's sad that it they had to lose their lives for some of us to see that. Having said that, thank you Officer Bahr for helping to make this world a better place. You will not be forgotten here in Winnipeg. I know this isn't a very manly thing to do, but if you happen to run into Dennis up there, please give him a big hug for the kids and I. Dennis was a good man and we miss him more than words can say.

The Police Officer's Prayer to Saint Michael:

Saint Michael, heaven's glorious commissioner of police, who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional eyes on your earthly force.

Give us cool heads, stout hearts, and uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgment.

Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.

You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences with the devil that the police officer's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.

And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your heavenly force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God as we have been to guard the city of all

Sorry for not posting a reflection earlier, I have no excuse for it, however, do know that I have thought about you everyday and the sacafice you gave to protect our community and nation, you are a Hero! to me and everyone that knew you. I will never forget you Todd, you were one the nicest and police officers and indidviduals anyone could have had the pleasure to meet. May you rest in peace and know that I wake up every morning wanting to go to work and continue to fight the good fight everyday even more just because you lived and gave your life for the same cause I vowed to when I started in 2003.

To your wife Stephanie thank you for sharing Todd with us, may god continue to comfort and give you the strength to carry on without Todd in the physical, but know that he will always be with us spirtually. God Bless you and your family.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was idealistic and believed he could make a difference.
He was immensely proud of the uniform and the badge and what they represent.
He felt privileged to be of service to his department, his community and to his country.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was friendly, courteous, and polite, yet firm.
He laughed and joked, but was serious when necessary.
He was competent, trained, and professional.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He had a strong sense of right and wrong and became
frustrated when true justice became sidetracked.
He felt the sharp criticism that goes with the job, but he
never wavered.
He stood by and for his fellow officers.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He longed for his family during the long hours.
He worried about them during his shifts and the lonely
weekends, holidays and midnights when they were apart.
He felt guilty about the lost time, but knew his calling
and prayed they would understand.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was a good son, a loving husband, and a devoted father.
He was dedicated to the profession and cared about the
people he served.
He wanted to do the best job that he could and strived to
be the best he could be.
He was a good citizen and a good neighbor.

I will miss him greatley. I would sometimes go to his shop just to hang out, and chat. When he told me he was putting in for Fredericksburg, I encouraged it whole heartedly. I never served with him, but I knew him, and he must have been an outstanding officer. Miss ya Bro.

Lord, yet another officer has fallen. We don't understand why you allowed Officer Bahr to be taken, but we trust that you know best and that you are with his family and department as they go on without him. Thank for the service he gave and for the sacrifice he made. Thank you for the 40 years you allowed him to be here. Though he is gone, his legacy lives on. Like ripples in the ocean, the good he did will go on and on. Through his actions and the memories his loved ones hold dear, he will live forever. Keep him alive in their hearts. It is good for them to cry now but in time, may there be fewer tears and more smiles and even laughter as they share stories and good memories of him. "And the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces." Amen and amen.

My heart breaks for the family of officer Bahr. I know what the days and months ahead will be like for them. My son was killed 1-4-06. When our son was killed we received a personal note from the Fredericksburg Police Dept. It was very special to us because we lived in Fredericksburg for a short time when our son was in high school. I have the family and the department in my thoughts and prayers.
