Dirk was a great guy. I knew him at Fort Campbell from which he deployed to the Middle East. He was an exceptional agent and had unlimited potiental. Such a great and untimely loss to his family and country.

Dirk was my step dad, soft ball coach, and the best man
Anyone could ever meet! He left behind two sons Jason,
Who I would love to meet and get to know, and
My brother Brandon!
I think of Dirk so very often, and know he is watching
Over us, and keeping us safe! My eyes fill with tears even
Today thinking about him, but my heart was filled
With joy just being able to be apart of his life! It is hard to
Believe it has been so many years to pass, but he
Has never left my heart or mind! Tracye Crass

I was stationed at Ft McCellan, AL with Dirk and Wanda. I was COL Druitt's driver and Wanda was COL Durian's driver. Wanda was across the hall from me. Dirk would come by to see Wanda every day at lunch. I have talked to them many times. Dirk was a super Guy.I lost contact with them after I PCS'd to Camp Casey, KOREA. I left the Army and finished in the National Guard with 35 years. I often wondered where Dirk and Wanda went. I didn't realize he had passed away until I stumbled on this site.

I worked with Dirk at Fort Campbell, KY, retiring from there in 1984, just as he was beginning the mission to the Sinai. He was a good agent and a good friend. I have thought of him many times over the years.

A great soldier and crime fighter. I had the honor of commanding the CID Field Office at Fort McClellan, AL from Dec 1980 - Jan 1983 while Dirk was assigned to the unit. I have fond memories of Dirk as a young hard-charging special agent who never shied away from the difficult cases. He had a great sense of humor. Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

I grew up with Dirk and we were best friends. We both joined the Army and served with the CID Command. I have just recently retired after 32 years.
There are so many things I can say about Dirk. However, what I want to say the most is I miss my friend. I will be at his ceremony to honor him.

I was stationed with Dirk at Fort McClellan along with his wife, Wanda, Sep 77 through Jan 80. He was the Traffic NCO and taught me alot about police work. We also spent off duty time together with Dave Warner, Dirk and myself went to see a Ted Nugent concert in Huntsville, Al. Such good times. Dirk always was easy going and had a joke to tell. In Korea I ran into him and we hung out there. It was a shock to hear about the accident. I ran into Wanda at Lake Chiemsee, Germany Camp Grounds and wished I had talked to her longer, I regret that and would like to hear from her. [email protected] I think of Dirk from time to time and remember our good times together. Take Care Dirk, and I'm sure we'll run into each other when it's my turn to leave this world.
