Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Anthony Shane Tate

I was traveling back to Michigan from Florida the day I heard the news, it hit me as if I were right there with you. You are a TRUE HERO! GOD SPEED.

I happened to be traveling through Monteagle the day this happened. I feel sad at the loss of any young life and one given in service to others is even more deeply felt. My heart aches for the fellow officers who must now make sense of this, yet they get no time off to regroup. They must go on every day and resolve this inside themselves. I wanted to stop every Grundy County or Monteagle police car I saw and say simply "thanks". I know Shane's children will one day be proud to tell the sad story of their brave dad. Bless you all.

Deputy Tate, you took an oath to protect and serve the citizens of Grundy County and this great country. In the performance of your duty, you made the ultimate sacrifice. There is no greater example of honor. May your loved ones, friends , co-workers find peace. May the citizens realize the sacrifice made by the law enforcement officers every second of every day. Rest in peace Deputy Tate , we have got it from here..

Shane Tate has laid down his marker for all time. He has stepped into history now as a much revered citizen; equal to those who sacrificed their lives on the beaches of Normandy and at Iwo Jima and in the sands of Iraq. No one wants to see such a loss but there is no greater sacrifice that a man can make. He will be profoundly missed by his family. Hopefully they can take some satisfaction in the knowledge that he will be held up in future generations as an example of the price that is paid by so many noble patriots as he fought to ensure a peaceful and stable America for the rest of us.

When something like this happens, I realize that these men and women are among the bravest of the brave, and I thank God there are those who are willing to do the work they do. He was taken too soon. Thank you Deputy Tate for giving your life for others, and thinking only that "It is my job".
