March 3, 2008

I watched you services on TV and was sad that I never meet you. It was truly a sad day in LAPD history to loose a man such as yourself. It was a sad day for everyone, it seems you were an outstanding man, a caring man and will be truly missed by everyone you knew and touched. I'm sorry I never met you.

Janice Clayton, Sheriff Service Speciali
San Bernardino County Sheriff's Dept

March 3, 2008

Thank you, Officer Simmons, for your many years of service, and for your example and inspiration to so many. I praise the Lord when I read the stories about you! When community leaders are searching for examples for our youth, YOUR story, your life's story, is the one that should be told and retold. I can also tell that you would bend your knee before the Lord and point the praise to Him for it. You set yourself apart for a reason. Even though seeing through a glass darkly, you had a clearer picture than most. Now, you see your savior face to face. There's the joy. Officer Simmons, you never went down spiritually. You're still standing! And I'm cheering.

I will hold your family and your law enforcement family up in prayer.

Very Grateful

March 3, 2008

RIP BROTHER, I HOPE THAT ONE DAY I CAN BE HALF THE MAN THAT YOU WERE. YOU ARE A TRUE INSPIRATION. GOD WILL BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Brother, it was an honor for us to represent our Department and our team by standing with the tremendous number of our fellow officers who took part in recognizing your amazing deeds in life, on and off the job, your dedication and your heroism. Every SWAT officer looks to the LAPD as the originator of what we do, the genesis of what some of us find to be the greatest calling in this job. Thank you for your hard work and thank you for being willing to go through that door and every door before that. Your life has served as a symbol of what we should all strive for, your service was inspiring.

My deepest sympathy to your family, friends, and fellow LAPD Officers. I did not know you, but I am learning how you lived. I know what we do, and that is what we have in common. You lived a life of honor and served as a warrior so that others may live. May we all look upon your life and try hard to do the same each day. May you look down upon us in comfort knowing that others will be there for your family. May your family know that they have a friend, even though you never knew me.

May the Lord bless your family, watch over them, and keep your children in the palm of his hand.

May your memory be eternal.

Randy,

You were a man of love, strength and lion-like courage. You gave your all and a whole communities mourn your untimely passing. May your spirit live on in the hearts and minds of your brothers and sisters in blue. May they not lose heart, but run this race with endurance, as you did. I "met" you as friends and loved ones eulogized you at your funeral. You have inspired me, and I will never forget you. God bless and keep all the men and women in law enforcement.

My brother in law enforcement and my brother in Christ: Praise God for your 27 + years of successful heroic efforts - Most of which occurred out of uniform with your family, church, and the youth of Los Angeles as much as in uniform with the Los Angeles Police Department. You have inspired thousands with your life, and perhaps millions with your death, including me and the small group I took with me to your homegoing celebration. Thank you for setting the bar for all of us to be better cops, community members, fathers, husbands and Christians.
God bless you and your family. You are, and will be, a true inspiration to so many.

I am only one in thousands who has been inspired by the life and faith of Officer Randy Simmons. This heroic man was unknown to many people, including myself, prior to February 7. I’ve read many comments from people who said they wish they had known him. If you know Jesus, you know Randy. He did what he did for his God. His life was an offering to God. He gave all that he had to the Lord. “The Word of God is living and effective,” Hebrews 4:12. Randy is proof to that. His life can be compared to the miracle of the loaves and the fishes found in Luke 9: 11-17. The Apostles gave all the food they had to Jesus. It amounted to five loaves and two fish. Jesus took their offering and produced a miracle. Their offering was multiplied in order to feed five thousand. Randy’s life was taken too soon in a tragedy, but the Lord has accepted Randy’s offering of love and has multiplied it. This love has fed the hungry hearts of thousands who need a hero to lead them to Christ. Thank you Randy for your gift.

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bill's just got to steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't Ill understand.
There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell.

Allow me to extend m prayers to the family of Randy Simmons-May God Bless you All.

To have known Randy as a friend, co-worker and a man of faith, it truely saddened my soul to hear of his passing.

But I know the Lord must have designated a placement on his "specialized" team of angels for you, Randy, calling on your service - just a little early, is all.

Knowing you Randy, no R.I.P. for you. I am sure you are hard at work in Heaven. So don't be trying to do it all by yourself.

I'll be seeing you Randy, I hope to be selected as a part of your team, a foot soilder of faith.

Peace,
Ray Ray
