I am patrolman Wilmeth's granddaughter. My father was one of two small boys mentioned in his obit. Family legend said this was no accident. I know it greatly affected those two boys, as well as their children. I researched this incident in 2008 and approached Buena Vista, Chief of Police, Plogger who made this honor happen. My advice to anyone who ends up with small children after an officer's death is to give those children as normal a life as possible, so they can become responsible adults and parents. Granddaddy.... through my research, you came alive for me although I never knew you. Information about your death allowed me to finally forgive my father for not being a father to me. RIP and I hope to see you in Heaven.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 87th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.
