Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Senior Border Patrol Agent Luis Alberto Aguilar

It took me 11 years to write something.
I will always regret turning down your invitation to watch boxing match on ppv. It was the last time we spoke, I think.

Been awhile since I heard your contagious laugh Louie. I can still hear it like it was yesterday. Always in my heart and mind, especially this time of year. Until we meet again, I'll hold you close to my heart. Love you like a brother.

I think of you quite often brother and reflect on our conversations during work and while hanging out with our families. You were the truest of friends Louie. I thank you for your unique sense of humor, brutal honesty and brotherly love. I regret not being able to pick up the phone when you called me and left a message on my phone the day before you suddenly left us. What I wouldn't give to have a "do-over" and have one last conversation with you brother? It was the most awesome of privileges to be your friend.

Thanks for watching over me and our brothers in green and all these years.

Rest in peace

And when we lay down our nightsticks, enroll us in your Heavenly Force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God as we have been to guard the City of men. Amen.

I have posted before and always come back to see the face of a good friend. We spent many nights working together and laughing together at 3 am on the east and west side of SLU. Whether we were working our butts off or just waiting for the next bonsai on the "west" side we had a ball.

You are a part of my life still. I talk about you with friends and family as I always have a picture of you near me. You are a reminder to me everyday of how dangerous our job can be.

Miss you Louie. You are a hero to all of us in green.

Dear Daddy,

I miss you so much I think of you day and night every day. I'm very upset that we've lost you all my friends talk about their Dads and it makes me feel left out, why did God make you leave us I hate it i need you back we want you back. I think of you all the time no matter what I'm doing. I get really sad because you aren't around. I only knew you for 5 years of my life but I knew you were the best Dad in the world. You played with me, watched movies with me, loved me, cared for me, and did everything for me! I need you back, everyday you aren't here it feels like I am missing my other half, you were my life you were my Daddy everyone needs their Daddy and Mommy… but i only have Mommy it's harder for her everyday is a challenge but somehow we get through it. Just know that we think of you, see you one day. Love you always Dada :) <3

I never had the pleasure of meeting Louie Aguilar, but I Know he must of been a special gift from God that many were able to enjoy while he was here on heart!! Today is his 5 year anniversary and I'm sure for his family and friends it never gets easier. What I do know is that he is also an incredible angel who guides his wife and kids with wisdom, faith and gratitude. Erica Aguilar is the very first BP widow I met. I'll NEVER forget that day, it changed my life!!!! It was during National Police Week.

As a wife of a Border Patrol agent at Headquarters many of us had the opportunity to cater to our amazing widows & their families during the "Chief's Luncheon" I'll never forget, Erica Aguilar came up to me and personally wanted to express her gratitude for the baked goods and upscale service The "Real Housewives of B.P." were providing. She was grateful to meet so many wives. She went on and on and on and I couldn't say two words!!!!! I was in Awe of her and those precious kids!!! Her strength, her inner beauty and her continued Love for the Border Patrol. She is now my sister and rock!!! I will run Police Weeks 5k, in honor of Louie Aguilar's five year anniversary. Since that first meeting I have met many more amazing widows who allow us the privilege of being in their lives. They live a humble grateful life that reminds me the important things in life......the word of The Lord ❤ Our widows continue to inspire those around us. Thank you Ladies, for blessing us.

My son, who is a police officer, had the honor of taking your two children fishing while they were at camp. He enjoyed their company immensely, and your daughter caught the biggest fish of the event! I hope this small act of kindness makes a difference in their lives because I know it made a huge difference in my son's life.

Louie, it's been four years since you were taken from us but not a day goes by where we don't think of you. I miss your beautiful smile and your wicked sense of humor. It's been hard for our whole family to be without you. I hope you know how much you are loved, little brother. I love you and I miss you so much.
