Hi dad! It’s been almost 14 years since God decided to take you home. I’m 19 now and in college. i may not have fulfilled your dreams as a UT cheerleader but i’m fixing to be living it up at UTSA. I can’t quite say things are easier now, if anything they are harder. i need you more now then i did when i was five. i needed you for high school, sports, graduation , and now college. i’m starting my life and it just doesn’t seem right that your not here physically to witness it. i need you so much but i know one day we will meet again and it will all be worth it. i love you more then you’ll ever know. watch over me

Just a reminder that we think about/talk about you often still and I believe you're still keeping St Michael laughing .... while you're up there don't forget us --- and KNOW we won't forget you ... hope to see you again if He let's me in where you are :)

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Saavedra and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Officer Saavedra has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Saavedra, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Officer Saavedra is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

For those who pledge to uphold it, Freedom requires a sacrifice the protected will never know.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 4th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

I pray for the solace of all those who love and miss you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. To your wife, I am so sorry you are now having to parent alone...I know it can be a real struggle and as a single parent, you too are a heroine because your husband's supreme sacrifice is also borne by all of his family.

Rest In Peace.

Throughout the year I read the reflections posted, but especially this time of year....We all continue to miss James, his personality, his humor, and his "can do" spirit. Every day his name comes up here at the PD with a smile and a "remember when ... " True example of a Police Officer, and an excellent human being. It remains an honor to have worked with him, and to have known him and his family. We all keep James, his wife and kids, and his Mom who recently passed away in our prayers and in our thoughts. Y'all stay safe !

Carla, the kids and I went out to your grave on the 19th and placed flowers next to all the others that were laid there. You life was cut way too short, but you are now in Heaven.
