Mark, I never knew who you were. I never met you. I was given a key tag from a Retired St. Paul Police Officer. From what I’ve read about you you were a guy everyone could count on. A guy who had peoples backs. And because of that, I respect you and what you did. Rest Easy

I rode a horse today. First time in 12 years. I used to work with Mark in the Mounted Unit at the Park Police.
Even though we had our differences we were still Brothers in Blue.

Mark, I’m sure you heard me tonight telling my neighbor about you. How you were there for me on that domestic off of GVR. How you were there after the explosion off West Broadway, taking peremeter, not needing to do so as your shift was over. I miss you. I’m sorry I couldn’t do more other then yell to the Fire Fighters to hurry, it’s a cop. I’m so sorry I couldn’t do more. My neighbor has your keychain we made for your son. I look forward to a handshake and a smile some day. I’ll see you then.

I was the Minneapolis Police Officer that initiated the vehicle chase, and when the suspect crashed his vehicle and fled on foot I left my squad and chased him on foot. One of the most important obligations any police office has is to come to the aide of an officer in peril, and in fulfilling that obligation Mark followed me in the foot pursuit when he was tragically struck by another vehicle. My thanks to you for fulfilling that obligation, and my condolences to all who knew and loved you.

Each day, when I get ready for work, I look at a photo that was taken when we were Park Patrol Agents which is hanging in my uniform/work closet. I have fond memories of those times, as well as riding the lakes on Jake & Rio as Officers.
Take care...we all miss you....Steve #30223

Bedard Family,

I am very sorry for your loss. I had the opportunity to meet Mark through a mutual partner (B. Jones). Mark was one of the nicest people I have ever met in my law enforcement career. He will be greatly missed.

Mark,

You didnt know me, however, I had the distinct honor in meeting your son Nicholas during National Police Week 2008. Nick was extremely impressed with the Motors and when your family approached me that is when I met your adorable son. So young, but yet so in-tuned was he as I sat there and spoke with him and gave him my department's Motor Unit pin. Your family explained to me that tragic day in November and they told Nick I was daddy's friend now.

So as your friend, I say rest in peace and know that you and your family, and Lil Nick will always have a special place in my heart.

Bedard Family, God Bless You

I am a Sergeant from a small town in NJ. In less than three weeks I will be riding my bicycle from NJ to Washington DC for the NJ leg of the Police Unity Tour in honor of your sacrifice to this profession. We are all brothers in arms and it is difficult to hear of your loss. I wish the best for your family as they will need much support to get through these difficult times. I have been in touch with Sgt Doll and look forward to meeting him in Washington. If the timing is right I may be able to introduce myself to your family and pay my respects in person. My sincere condolences to your family. My sincere gratitude to your service. It is my honor to ride on your behalf.

Hey Markie Mark,
We have the Minneapolis Special Olympics Polar Plunge coming up this Saturday. They have your mug plastered all over---only cuz its such a funny shot from last year:) Mike jumped this past weekend in the South Metro plunge with me, Becca and Kari. I think we have him hooked as he said hes doing it again next year!
There are a bunch of people coming out to DC this year to honor you and all the other officers. Its going to be a tough week for all of us, especially your family and close friends but there is alot of support there for everyone.
Just been thinkin' bout you and miss you.
