Dear Mrs. Cassidy & Children,

On this sorrowful day, we honor the beloved memory of your Husband & dear Dad. His dedication to Family is held in our hearts. Not many days have gone by in these 10 years that we & many others on the job have not thought of him & of all of you.

Your dear Husband & Dad lives in our hearts. Thank you, dear Officer Chuck Cassidy for your courage, your dedication and your love of Family & friends. You are held in our hearts & always, always missed & remembered. Always in our prayers.

Soon after Officer Cassidy died I met a police officer who knew him well. She said, " Do you know how after someone dies everyone says nice things about him? All the good things they are saying about Chuck Cassidy are true. He was everything a police officer should be and more."

Throughout the years, whenever a conversation has turned to the subject of police or policing, I have repeated her words. May the Cassidy family continue to find comfort in the fact that he lives in the example that he set for others and in the simple words of praise shared about him even among strangers.

i just started reading the many reflections left for chuck - it will take me a very long time to read all of them - i want to thank the many wonderful people who have not forgotten chuck - me and my children miss him so much - after 6 years you would think it gets easier but deep down it hurts so much - some days it feels like it happened yesterday while others it seems like a lifetime since we've been able to just hug him - life does go on but it will NEVER be the same without him - as many of you who have lost someone so close know all to well!!!!

I happened to see a news blurb on Philly TV in '07 showing Chuck's pic. I didn't recognize him. A week or so later the Cardinal Dougherty quarterly letter came in the mail. It had the same pic I'd seen on TV. He was a grad from my year, 1970. He looked familiar to me. I got out my 1970 yearbook and found his pic from 1970. Oh My God! I played football with Chuck back in '66 & '67 at Dougherty!

Chuck was a fine athlete and a good guy. It hurts me deeply to know that he was murdered so senslessly. My thoughts & prayers continue to go out to him and his family. I'm still shocked. I don't know what else to say except: God Bless Chuck!
