DD it's been almost 7 years since you left us and I often think about you, once in a while I run into some Sapd officers that were friends of you and they take a moment of their time to tell me a story or two about you and all I hear is what a great man you were and that the police department misses you very much! That make me so proud of you when i hear those things, my brother it was a honor to have been your brother, the other day I went to get a haircut and ran into Alex Ortiz (hurricane) and he started telling me unbelievable stories about you and all I could do was stand there and listen to Alex stories and the way you carried yourself, that made me so proud of you that it brought tears to my eyes, then I proceed to tell Alex the day you got shot, it's like a dream that never goes away bro! I remember that day like if it was yesterday and the hurt never leaves! I pray that you are resting well in heaven with the rest of your fallen brothers in blue, I hope that one day all of us will reunite again in heaven, until then my dear beloved brother rest in peace! I know vale from the varrio but who dos'nt know vale the narco I would just like to take this opportunity to thank Mr vale for arresting me and sending me to jail i remember being very young and him asking me if this is what i wanted for my life being on the ground and being raide all the time you know its weird how things go down it took me a long time to shape up but i did and it took jail time to get there and i very much am grateful thank you vale ese i hope you are with god and appreciate what you did for our community

Your heroism and service is honored today, the third anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I can see by the reflections left that you are loved and missed by many. Your family is in my heart's embrace.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

We were at work on a Saturday afternoon when Val's speech started to slur. He had just returned from vacation, and had given the team our NY Yankee shirts. We became worried when Val's speech got worse, and encouraged him to get to the hospital. We met him there later that night, and saw as his condition worsened over the next few weeks. Val died from wounds suffered almost 20 years ealier, and not a day goes by that the team doesn't miss him.

This is one of those stories that makes your jaw drop. This man, an officer, was ambushed by bullets, strong enough with will power to sruvive, and did so. Never did he or any doctor know that he had a 29 year limit, but i belive if he did know, he would have still been a Police Officer, it is just one of those things you cant give up.

I really appreciate everything you have done for the public, and my sympathies are with your family. This criminal is where he belongs, in jail, and you are where you belong, in heaven, watching over the public, only to keep the peace. If it wasnt for your sacrifice, this man might have killed someone else, you put him behind bars, and saved many lives.
