Reflections for Air Interdiction Agent Julio Enrique Baray

Julio,

We miss you so much. As the boys get older they miss you more, and so do I. We wish we had you with us longer to have even more of your life and memories in us. It is so hard to be without you. You were such a rock in our family.

I see you in the boys all the time but it is such a small piece since they were so young. I hope that you will continue to guide them and make them strong. They have such great potential, help them be great.

You taught me so much while you were here. I hope that I will continue to learn from your lessons and be someone you will be proud of. I love you and miss you from infinity and beyond.

Please come visit us in our dreams. Touch us with your love and strength.

Love forever and beyond.

It has been three hard years today since we last saw Julio walk through our door in his beloved flight suit. I know that it wears it now proudly as he takes care of us from the world above. We miss him so much and look forward to the day we will be able to hug him once more. Angel wishes he was here to teach him all he wanted to learn from him. Victor wishes he was here to yell for him as he plays football. I just want a hug and kiss. We miss you with all our heart and soul Julio. Until we meet again.......

Julio,
Time passes so quickly and so slowly. It is almost three years since we have seen you or heard your voice. We know you are now on watch from above but we still miss you very much.

Please keep watch also over the Border Patrol here and Air and Marine in El Paso. I'm sure there are still many who miss you and remember their time with you. You have touched many people.

The boys miss you very much, it breaks my heart. We know your hand is in their lives and you will continue to help them every day. I try to see you in them as much as I can and you are there.

Your buddies are doing ok. Please touch their lives when you can too. They miss you too, you were the glue!

When you see Uncle C please give him a hug and know that he has missed you too.

We will all see again one day. Until then we pray for you and for your help in our lives. We miss you very much and long to hear your voice and feel your touch.

God bless.

Dear Julio Enrique:

It has been two years since all of us, friends, ex-coworkers and family members said good-bye to you on Sept. 28, 2007. Some of us still remember your smile and all of the good things you did for the U.S. Border Patrol. Today, on the second anniversary of your loss, your legacy continues.... We hope the sacrifice you made by giving up your life for this country has already been highly rewarded by our LORD. May there be a special place for you and all of the heroes who fight in war for our Freedom in Heaven and may the LORD give us another chance to reunite with our loved ones in Heaven when our time comes.

Prayers will continue for your and your family for as long as God lets us live. May your children always honor your memory and may your family and friends continue remember you in their daily prayers.

With all respect, from the bottom of our hearts, you are in our thoughts and heart.

To Agent Julio Baray and his loved ones:

On this the first anniversary of your tragic death, please know that your memory is honored and revered today.

This world, this country, your community truly are better places because of you. To have lost you is a great tragedy, an irreplaceable, immeasurable loss for society. We are grateful for and to you, and honor you for all you did for us day in and day out whether you received a word of thanks or praise.

Rest in Peace, Agent Baray. I am so humbled by your valor and courage.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Julio gave to his community and the citizens of our country, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 24, 2007.

Agent Baray served proudly and was deeply loved and respected by those who
knew him. It is a tragedy to lose him. We never know when our lives on this
earth will end, but we can make a reservation in Heaven now and assure us a
place when God calls us to Himself. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life
(John 14:6) and He PAID the price for our sins on the Cross so we don't have to pay the penalty for our sins. Yipee! If we accept His payment by faith we can have salvation and spend eternity with Him in Heaven. It is not something we must earn, it is a gift. The most precious one we can ever receive. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith_and this not from yourselves, it is the GIFT of God_not by good deeds, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2: 8,9. For without faith, it is impossible to please God. And our faith must be in God's only Son, Jesus Christ.
You were a credit to the uniform, agent Baray. My heart goes out to your
loved ones left behind and may the Lord comfort them as only He can.

My heart goes out to the Baray family. I miss my friend Julio, a kind and generous soul and occasional practical jokester. Whenever I worked with Julio and my radio antenna or CSB went missing, he was the prime suspect. He would never hesitate to back you up on a stop or checking a train. I'm proud to have known Julio and try to follow his example.

Julio,

We will always remember this day in 2007.

You were always such a unique person and you have touched the lives of so many people, especial me and the boys. We miss you every moment of every day but we know you are with us through it all and helping us stay strong and together. You have taught us well and much. There will never be anyone in our life like you.

I see so much of you in the boys and we remember all that you did with them. Angel misses your special way of helping him in martial arts and his homework. Victor misses you playing with him. I miss everything. You were able to leave us Axle and I know you live in him too. Thank you.

Julio, you are my love and will always be. I miss you so much and hope that you are proud of what we are doing and what will continue to accomplish.

Until we meet again....
love always and forever.

And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy. I work with some Agents that used to work with you and they had nothing but good things to say about you.

I had a privledge to ride in the Police Unity Tour this year for the leo's that paid the ultimate sacriface. I am trying to reach a contact or family member about the ride because there was a brief confusion about who I was riding for. I pedaled 175 miles only to be stopped by rain and winds of 35 mile gusts. This is the first year that the PUT has been stopped by weather. I have a overwelming sence of under accomplishment because I have carried this bracelet and have not met the goal. I need a contact for the family or friends to e-mail or call. please contact me.

Julio, you are a great agent. We are so proud of you and the work you did. You will always be remembered. I wish you would have had more time to enjoy your new job as a pilot, the one you waited so long to get. The boys will make sure they get to do the fun stuff for you. You taught us so much about flying and planes we will make sure to do something good with that information.

We miss you so much and can't wait to meet up with you again. Please stay with us until that time. We still need you. We love you with all our hearts.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Officer Agent Baray, especially to his wife. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Julio, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Julio's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Julio's life was about so much more than the way he died. Julio will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Agent Baray, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost five years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)
