Reflections for Detective Mario Moreno
We buried a sister-in-blue yesterday and we've been thinking about you. Please look after Officer Stephanie Brown for us, maybe you can be her FTO? Take care of yourselves and please continue to protect us from above. Miss you brother.

Did not know you personally, but had passed you many times during shift change at the Cerntral Sub. I can't express the sadness still felt even after all this time. I hope your family knows that we are still praying for you, as well as them....rest in peace.

To the family and friends of Detective Mario Moreno and his fellow officers in the San Antonio Police Department:
On behalf of our entire family, we wish to pay honor to Mario's memory on the first anniversary of the day Mario so tragically lost his life. His heroism, valor and bravery will be forever remembered.
May you be continue to be comforted by the support and caring of your law enforcement family, and other police survivors. We grieve for you and with you. Our family lost our beloved Larry Lasater when he was fatally shot in April of 2005 during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers, so we know the anquish you are still experiencing.
Please know that the brotherhood and sisterhood of law enforcement and police survivors will always be by your side on each step of the journey.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the years of service Detective Moreno gave to his community and the citizens of Texas, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 21, 2007.

I had to come to ODMP here 4 days before Christmas to tell your family that I still think of them and their loss. There are too many rookie badges in Heaven this year. Sharing a badge with my dad and brother, I am especially pained for your family. Blessings to your family in this "first" holiday season of loss. I know that time does not come quick enough to even begin to ease the heartache of loss and will never, thankfully, erase the pain completely. But I pray that merciful God will hold them, and all families who have lost their officer, with peace and gentleness as the season tends to magnify the pain. I also pray that the force in Heaven watch over those connected with the thin blue line and when the time comes, you greet them with open arms.
I know that you are missed by many. Thank you for helping give me the strength and courage to wear this earthly badge with honor.

Just thinking of you today and wondering how your wife, kids and family are doing during the holidays. I know you are watching over them all.
I didn't realize the day of your funeral that I would be driving home near the church where your body rested. It was an amazing sight to see all the patrol units from all over texas lined up waiting to pay their respects. I cried all the way home thinking of your wife and family and how strong she had to be for your children that day.
Being a dispatcher and my spouse also a police officer makes me extra vigilant to do everthing I can to protect my guys.
I just wanted you to know that I think of you and your family often and will never forget the sacrifice you made.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Detective Moreno, especially to his wife. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.
From reading the reflections left for Mario, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Mario's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Mario's life was about so much more than the way he died. Mario will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.
Detective Moreno, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost five years but we still miss him terribly.
Wishing you brighter and better days,
Jocelyne :)
