Reflections for Police Officer Jose Lazaro Somohano

Officer Somohano,
Many agencies work togther as one to target a certain task. Whether it's a gang problem, burgalry detail, robbery, etc. A lot of hard work is put into that particuler detail. You were doing what we (officers) enjoy doing day in and day out. KEEPING MIAMI-DADE COUNTY SAFE. Unfortunatley, your job was interrupted, and you were taken from us. On 09/13/2007 WE came together as ONE, for a very important detail. To make sure no one else gets hurt. I'm sure you were up above during the searches, singing "Bad Boys, Bad Boys. Whatcha you gonna when they come for you." MIAMI-DADE S.R.T. brought the detail to an end. As police officers we laugh together, we cry togther, but we never let each other go. God Bless your wife, your children and you. We will all meet again someday. R.I.P. brother.

Jose,
Words can't express how I really feel. Our station will never be the same, it's a very sad place to work right now. I hope after time that will change.....

They say time heals all wounds....I'm not so sure that our station will get through this, it's so tragic and the pain we all feel can not be described.

You brought light into my day whenever I saw you, always with a smile on your face, such a friendly, respectful guy.

You are truly missed, loved and respected.

I did not know you but I might have seen during my tenure with MDPD, and yet I feel such deep sorrow for you and your family. I pray for your family, and I hope they take some comfort that you were truly respected by your fellow officers. Rest in Peace knowing that MDPD officers and detectives worked countless hours to find your killer. Your family will be taken care of because now they have an angel in heaven looking out for them.

It is unfortunate the tragic moments, such as the morning of September 13, 2007, which bring us together as a department, as a community, and as a country.

Officer Somohano, we had never met, but I know you would have been proud of your brothers and sisters and the job they did on that day to make good of something so bad. You will never be forgotten. You are a Hero to us all. Rest In Peace my brother, we got it from here.

To the Somohano family, we at the MDPD will always be here for you. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Miss Me, But Let Me Go
Author Unknown

When I come to the end of the road,
and the sun has set for me.
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little—but not too long,
and not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that was once shared.
Miss me, but let me go.

For this is a journey we all must take, and each must go alone.
It’s all a part of the master’s plan, a step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart, go to the friends we know.
Bear your sorrow in good deeds. Miss me, but let me go

Jose,
Even though I did not know you personally, I remember seeing you occasionally at the pumps behind station four. We greeted each other as many of us do out of respect towards one another. You always seemed upbeat and had a smile on your face. Sept. 13 was a day of great pain to all of us and a reminder of the danger we all face in this line of work. But in the midst of tragedy, we are also reminded of why we do what we do. I have never been prouder to be a police officer. I promise that your memory will never be forgotten and your passion for wearing the silver badge will never fade, for we will continue. "Bad boys, bad boys. Watcha gonna do." Till we meet again, God bless you and your family.
