Norvelle you are my inspiration and role model, and the role model of many. One day people,will understand that police officers just want to help their community. You demonstrate leadership, uphold integrity, and perform to the best of your abilities at all times. Thought i'm still in school, one day I will wear that badge as you once did Norvelle. Choices

Two children grew up on the north side of the city,
The neighborhood impoverished, the streets were all gritty,
Both were frustrated on the streets where they stood,
They both made choices, one evil, one good.

The good man’s choice made a change for the best,
By serving his community with a badge on his chest.
The evil choice was to be bitter and hate,
And to travel the wrong road, instead of traveling the straight.

The good man impact was felt all around,
On the streets and in the neighborhood, they loved Norvelle Brown,
He vowed to protect, and he vowed to serve,
And he was making a difference around every curve,

The man who held anger, and evil, and spite,
Held all these things with all of his might,
He decided one day to let that anger outside,
And that fateful night, the two paths did collide,

The good man accepted a gun a year before,
When he finished his training, and crossed through that door,
To become a policeman and proudly wear the blue,
And take that old neighborhood, and make something new.

The man with the evil that ran through his veins,
Sought out a gun, for reasons insane,
He wanted to hurt the very man that was there,
To protect him and his, from tragedy and despair,

That night in the neighborhood there was a loud sound,
And then the fine young officer hit the ground,
And evil had triumphed, but just for a minute,
Because Officer Brown’s heart had much more in it,

And all the folks saw it, as they learned of his life’s plan,
His heart was full of love for his fellow man,
If we all take a lesson from this awesome young man,
And we all try to help, and do what we can,

God’s intent was clear why he gave us Norvelle Brown,
It wasn’t just to protect, but to heal this town,
God took him back quickly, a short time here he spent,
He had completed his watch brilliantly, and to Heaven he went.

And God left the other, to find his way home,
To learn from his mistakes, and on wrong paths not roam,
And rid his heart of the evil that would make,
A young man kill another, a valued life he did take.

And God left us here also, as we should be part of the movement,
And although we don’t harbor evil, there is room for improvement.
It is easy to sit back, enjoy life, and judge,
But if you aren’t part of the solution, you might take this nudge,

Officer Brown’s death was a lesson sadly learned that day,
So understand that there are choices in every turn along the way,
Some take the path of least resistant, and the wrong path some may roam,
But the man who takes the honorable path, will always find his way home.

Norvelle - the jury's back...GUILTY OF MURDER 1ST AND ARMED CRIMINAL ACTION!!!!!!!!!!!! The sentencing is 10/9. May your family now finally put some sort of closure on your senseless murder...RIP MY BROTHER IN BLUE.

A jury has found Antonio Andrews guity in the 2007 death of St. Louis police Officer Norvelle Brown.

ST. LOUIS — Detectives took video statements two years ago from several teens from the neighborhood where St. Louis police Officer Norvelle Brown was gunned down days before.

Each gave details incriminating their friend and fellow gang member, Antonio Andrews, then 15, as the killer.But on the witness stand Tuesday in Andrews' first-degree murder trial as an adult, each tried to take it back.Xavier McCully, now 20, and Lamont Johnson III, now 17, told detectives on the video that they saw Andrews pull a gun on Brown. In court, both said they never saw him with a weapon that night.

"I got scared," Johnson explained to the jury. "When we got into the police station, (the detective) put stuff in and I went along with it."

Another young man, Thomas Weeks, had told police during an audiotaped interview that Andrews confessed to him after the murder. But Weeks told the jury Tuesday he could not remember the conversation.

Prosecutor Sean O'Hagan opened the trial by telling jurors that evidence will show Andrews shot Brown Aug. 15, 2007, after a brief chase in the 1600 block of Semple Avenue.

Andrews and Johnson were walking together and ran when Brown drove up the street, made a U-turn and pulled to the curb near them, O'Hagan said. Brown ran after Andrews, who turned and fired one shot at the officer, the prosecutor said.
Brown, 22, died at a hospital. He had been on the force just a year.

St. Louis Medical Examiner Michael Graham testified that the bullet hit Brown in the back of the shoulder and then pierced his pulmonary artery and lungs. Officials previously said the slug barely missed the edge of his bullet-resistant vest.

Defense attorney Geralyn Ruess insisted that Andrews is innocent of the crime. She emphasized that the only eyewitnesses — other teens with Andrews that night — gave conflicting stories.

"They said they were pressured by police to make a statement," Ruess said.

McCully, who was given immunity from prosecution and compelled to testify, claimed that a detective squeezed his neck and threatened him before recording his statement. He said he took photos of his bruises.

But O'Hagan showed the jury a photo of McCully taken at the jail after his interview with police; it showed no injuries.

Johnson said detectives threatened to prosecute him if he didn't point a finger at Andrews.

During his video statement, recorded with his mother by his side, Johnson said Andrews was carrying a revolver for protection that night. He said they all fled when Brown tried to question them.

Johnson claimed in the interview that Andrews pulled the gun and said, "I'm getting tired of running. I'm getting tired of them chasing us."

Please be with your family and friends during the trial and as your end of watch date approaches. We are praying for your family and friends. I saw your Mom again at Jeff City and met your brother and other family members. I can tell that you really mean alot to your family and they love you very much.

I know that all of you guys in heaven are looking out for all of the officers down here still trying to patrol the streets. They need all of your help..

Tomorrow starts the trial for your murderer...jury selection only. I didn't know you, however will be attending the opening statements on Tuesday, 9 am (Civil Court Building, Division 12, 7th floor). There was another police-related shooting on the southside last night. The copper is not hurt and struck the subject twice, although he is stable. Watch over us down here. RIP brother in blue.

There's not a day that goes by I don' think about you. I remember when you caught the dude robbing the barbershop and I had my burglar caught in the act. In the holdover side by side; that whole day was a trip. I knew you barely a year, but I'll remember you FOREVER brother. Each time I step out the car, I take an extra step for you.
