Reflections for Corporal Scott Wheeler

Scott, Almost coming up on a year now. Just thought I would write to let You,Your Wife,Parents, Brother, Friends, And HCPD Family know that a few months ago I was off duty with my Sarah and the kids. It was early evening daylight still right after a storm . We were driving in our personal car on Rt. 32 East approaching the Memorial Site. My Wife and I looked up in the sky and right above us we observed a Rainbow. My Wife began to cry as I also , remembering that was your Song with your Wife Tracey. This was a little sign that you were looking down on us watching over us. You are a Rainbow in the Dark. We drove all the way down Rt. 32 and the Rainbow was still there. My Girls ages 7 and 4 kept asking us about Cpl. Scott. My Wife Sarah and I told them that he was up in Heaven with Grandma who passed away last July and they were protecting us. Just wanted to write this little personal story to share with everyone. I still think of you often and you will never be forgotten.

Scotty- I can't believe it's almost been a year since you were taken from us...I could really use your laugh and goofy smile right now. I think of you daily and still hear your voice in my head. Just know that everyone here misses you more than you could ever imagine!!

Well Scott...where to start?? I just got home from DC with Tracy. I am still emotionally drained from the week. What an honor to be a part of yours and your families life! So many people came to honor you! You were really loved and respected by all. I just stopped by to tell you that we really miss and love you!! It is not fair...you should have been there with us drinking beer! WHY WHY WHY!!!!

Cpl Wheeler,

I had the honor of meeting your wife and mother on the Metro in Washington DC yesterday after the National Memorial Service. Their love for you was so evident in every word they spoke. You should be proud of the strength and courage they displayed. Your Dept's representatives were taking care of your family with honor and respect. Rest well my brother. Your family and Dept are representing you well. You will not be forgotten. R.I.P.

I've been thinking about you a lot lately... It's almost been a year since the accident, and they're honoring you this week during National Police Week.

A couple months ago, I drove out to 32 where the cross was placed for you. I brought some yellow and purple tulips with me, which I tied with a ribbon to the cross. I stood there not really believing you're gone. Everyone misses you, Scott.

You would be so proud of Tracy, and the friends who have supported her through everything. We all love and miss you...

I wanted to thank the entire Howard County Police Department for their continued support that they have given me. Also for the wonderful Memorial dedicated to the Fallen Heroes at the Police Headquarters. They have gone above and beyond to honor Scott. You are very much appreciated. Thank You!

Today I had the Honor of being at the Memorial Ceremony that Honored yourself and all the Fallen Heroes before you. I continue to pray for God to comfort your loving Wife, Parents, Brother, entire family and friends. I was touched by the words of another Fallen Hero's Mother. I am thankful I work for an Agency and County that continues to Honor and offer support to your loved ones. You have not been forgotten! I know you are with the Angels! God Bless!

An officer's life is lost by a speeding motorist not paying attention and gets off with a $410.00 fine. I pray for the Wheeler family and all officers of the Howard County Police Department. I assure each and every one of you, God believes Scott's life was worth more than all the money in the world. Stephanie Grissom will learn this on her final judgement day. Stay safe!!!

TEARS OF SORROW

trying to let go of these memories of sorrow
which are trapped inside of me,
where i feel alone, no one sees me crying.
i close my eyes and see my dreams,
dreams of tomorrow, the way i want things to be.
angel, keep watch over me,
the bad storms and the cold weather rain
which fall from the heavens.
angel, wash away these memories which are inside of me.
i want to cry, i want to cry,
tears from heaven falling from my eyes,
wash away the pain which keeps control of me.
angel, sing, sing the song
which will bring the dreams of tomorrow,
of sunshine, not of rain,
letting go of the memories
which trap my sorrows inside of me.

I just wanted to say that I LOVE YOU. I don't know what else to say or do. It's been 10 months now, and it still seems like yesterday that you were taken away. I wish I knew why, and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about how much I miss you. Why you?

I only knew Scott for a short time but I enjoyed two months of basic recruit training for Howard County Police(Academy 23) with Scott. I can say that God placed Scott in my life for a reason. I have never met such a fun loving person who lived each day to the fullest like Scott did. When everyone else was worried or anxious about a test or scenario, Scott was always seen laughing and smiling. I will always remember the smile he put on everyones faces, especially mine. Scott, you are missed and will never be forgotten for only hero's and legends live forever. To the family of Scott, We love you and God Bless.

I know I am horribly late, but I am just realizing that I knew you for years. I remember hearing of your death and thinking that I knew you once, but never thought more of it. Tonight I was researching some Old Mill HS friends in the class of 1994, and stumbled across a blog about your memorial. I looked you up and took one look at your picture on the memorial site and my heart sank. I did some more reserach and realized that I went to Southgate with you, Old Mill Middle with you, and Old Mill High school with you, and even was at AACC the same time you were getting your CJ degree. ( I graduated in Dec 99) Wow... such a small world and I feel so bad that I didn't get it sooner. I wanted to be at your funeral. I wanted to say goodbye. Sure, we weren't close friends, but our souls followed the same parallel paths for years and years, that must have significance. I pray for the family and the new wife you left behind. May God continue to give them strength and boundless love!!

Dear Scott,
I miss you alot! I got a memorial tattoo and I think you would like it. It's a rose on my shoulder, in one leaf there's your four digit and in the other is June 18, 2007. Not a day goes by that I don't think about you, Tracy and your family. My 2 1/2 year old has taken to looking at your picture and pointing towards the ceiling, smiling. I miss you and still hear your laughter !!! Sudi
