Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Frank Fabiano, Jr.
Frank was not just a co-worker, he was a trusted ally, friend, and mentor. I know that it is difficult to understand for those that don't work in Law Enforcement, but unlike your regular office job, when we loose a co-worker it reminds all of us what might happen to us every time we strap on the tools of our trade and start a shift of work. I will never forget my friend Frank, and the lessons he taught me in life and with his death.

It warms my heart to see that we have healed to the point where the stories have turned to funny memories. My turn.....sorry Frank way to funny not to share. I was working third shift overtime next to Frank. He was area 15 I was 14. We were at Harry's talking, Frank was clearing a scratch off he split with Harry. We were all goofing around teasing eachother about everything. As we left at about 330am I told Frank I would see him later. About 5 minutes after that he called out with several suspicious subjects at the Westosha Animal Clinic. Thinking someone was breaking in to steal drugs I started flying over there. As quickly as he called out with them he cleared?????? I was thinking what the heck? He didn't even run any 29's. I asked him to 25 but I could hear crickets chirping on the computer. I pulled up to the Clinic and Frank was still there backed in next to the building with his lights off. I pulled up to him and he was just smiling. I asked him what had happened. He just looked to the south and laughed. I sat there thinking I was a moron having no idea what he was getting at only to remember that as I pulled into the parking lot around a flag pole was a circle of suspicious full size Ghost decorations for Halloween. hahahahahaha we both had a laugh about it and he told be to keep my mouth shut hahaha Sorry Frank couldn't help it. I miss you my friend.

Just thinking of you and the friends left behind by your murderer tonight. You, your family, co-workers and friends are in my prayers. I made a promise in late 2007 that you will never be forgotten and that rings true today.
Amy and Angelina, I pray that you are doing well and remain strong.

Frank,
It is exactly 3 years to the date and now you have one more part of our family with you. I am finding it hard to understand things that have been happening... but just know that I think about you daily and wished things had been different. You gave your life to something that you believed in and that was something to be proud of. We are all missing you on this day and now not only do you have Joe with you but also our mother.

Frank,
A few weeks ago I was in DC again and I visited your place on the wall. I thought about your family during my ride and while at your place on the wall and was quietly hoping I would get to see them again. I may have missed them, or maybe they were not able to make the trip either way, I was thinking of you. I know that will not bring any peace to your daughter and wife, but I swear that as long as I breathe, you will never be forgotten, ever.
You have been my inspiration to do better things, not only at home, but for our profession, I'm just so sorry it came at such a price.

On this day a year of firsts has passed for your family and friends. As I look at the time at it is 11:38pm, I can't imagine the heartache that comes with this time. Your brothers and sisters connected by the thin blue line also have the heartache of loss.
I have been told that time will heal all wounds - but there is no amount of time that will erase the scars on the hearts of your loved ones. The person responsible for your death has been sentenced.....and it is but a small relief to those whose only relief from grief is your return.
On this one year anniversary of you being welcomed into Heavens police force, you are honored. We will never forget!

Frank,
It's hard to believe that in about 1 1/2 hours it will be exactly 1 year since your last call. I still remember standing outside with my dog after my shift ended and hearing all the sirens. I remember thinking to myself that it must be something big. Shortly after that, my phone rang and pager went off. The first a call letting me know what had happened and the second the TRT callout. I remember the whole night like it was yesterday. I don't ever want to forget that night, in honor of you, and to remind myself and others how "the routine traffic stop," is never routine.
You will never be forgotten.

One year has passed and for some it seems like yesterday but for others a lifetime that they heard your voice, saw your smile and felt your warm touch. A day does not pass they one of your loved ones is thinking about you. The first thought when they wake in the morning is of you and that last thought before drifting off to sleep is of you. They will keep your memory alive by telling others about you. Continue to watch over them and those still on patrol. You have not been forgotten.

Good Morning Frank,
Us 3rd shifters sure do have a horrible sleep schedule, and for proof, here I am up midnight (on my off-day) while my wife kids are sound asleep. Anyway, I just wanted you to know that on Wednesday I leave for New Jersey. I will be riding in your memory in the Police Unity Tour. We are going to be traveling around 300 miles from New York to DC by bicycle. Ever since you passed, I was looking for a way to always remember the sacrifice you made, hopefully, I found it in this ride. I will ride with honor and pride, knowing that I am doing this for you and your family. God Bless you, Frank.

I read the verdict of your murderer's trial this morning and was so relieved to see that he was found guilty. I know that it was an extrememly difficult thing for your wife to have sat through and pray that she is able to find some peace knowing that this man will never hurt another innocent person again.

Frank,
I still see you sitting in roll call... 10 minutes early as usual. Always prepared for your shift, and a story about your sweet little angel asleep at home before we head out on the road. Grab your gear from the parking lot and off we were... to D D's... I still see you standing there. A memory I will never forget... especially the time you knocked the display stand over... it was funny. You taught me so much as a new Deputy Sheriff and I thank you for that. You will have a special place in my heart forever. You were the calm in the chaos... something that only comes from a seasoned veteran. i think of you every day I strap my duty gear on... you will never be forgotten. I send my condolences to your beautiful, strong wife and daughter. Rest in Peace in Peace Frank...
