Reflections for Police Officer Alan Christopher Silver

Just stopping in to show yo some love. 16 years ago today to be exact, God called you home to be with him. It still hurts to this day knowing that you aren't here with us physically but you are here with her in spirit. We will continue to keep your memories living on everyday as long as we are living. Thank you for loving us and for watching over us daily. I couldn't ask for a better set of Godparents than your mom and dad. Alan, I love you and miss you and will see you again one day. Until then continue to rest in peace. Love always your god-sister Kesha

Bro. I just wanted to tell you that I’m finally reaching a goal we both were working toward so many years ago when we talked to NC state troopers to try and join together. I have become a brother in blue. You will always be on my heart and mind every day I put this uniform on. I will always remember the person you were to everyone and I will always try to emulate your professionalism and kindness in every interaction i face. I miss you and love you.

Still thinking of you brother. I just did a benefit ride for two officers who were killed by ambush in Boon N.C. It was a tough day for me being so close to the date of your passing. Not a day goes by I don't think of you! I wish I could have done more for you that day. Forever in my thoughts.

Alan to this day, I remember rushing to Rocky Mount when I was told they took you off life support. I kept praying the whole way from Richmond that I would get to say good bye. When I arrived at the hospital you were still hanging on. I whispered in your ear "Thank you for waiting for me." Shortly after you crossed over. Alan you are forever in my heart.

There isn't a day that passes that you are not in my thoughts. I look at your picture in my office and hanging on the wall in the police department every day. This week is always the hardest though, as the days approach leading up to the day I received the call that you had been in accident. I miss you and Love you so much!!

I was given the sweet opportunity of meeting my cousins years ago. It is truly unfortunate I was never given the same opportunity to meet you. Years has gone by and I am blessed to see them once again. My dear Officer Silver, know that you are thought of often. Know prayers are continuing out for our family and our brothers in blue. I fight this fight everyday with you all and prayers are what keep us. Be safe and watch over each other. To the Silver family, I love you and I will continually pray for our families.

Hey Alan. I pray that you are watch over us everyday. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think of you. Mom and Dad Silver are doing good. They tell me all the time when I'm over that that I can come by when I'm tired and lay down in your bed and go to sleep. I always tell them that I wouldn't lay there long because your room is the way you left it the day you left home that morning going to work. I get cards every year from them and mom always signs your name inside the card also. Momma Silver always tells me that I'm working too much and I need to slow down but I always tell her that I'll be okay. She worrys about me just as much as she worried about you. Your picture hangs on my wall at home and I look at it everyday. Your flowers from your service are still living and mom talks to them everyday. They are so beautiful. Missing you brother. Love your godsister

Alan,

We have gone through another loss recently as you already know. Please welcome your newest brother, Chris Driver, to patrol the streets of heaven along side of you. What got me the most is the route taken for the procession went over your bridge and through the intersection of your tragedy. Even more, the burial is not far from where you are at RM Memorial Park. Standing there brought back so many memories that hurt more than I can explain. I could feel your presence there and I'm sure others could too that knew you. I can't tell you the numbers of tears that have fallen for this loss, both for you and for Chris. We honored you last year with a 10th anniversary. Paul, Jill, and I were there, we spoke to your family and a number of LEO supporters, over 200 people, all for you brother! I'm sorry that I haven't written to you sooner but just know that I think of you every time I walk through the halls of our department. We miss you so much and I will always hold you dear in my heart, thoughts, and prayers. Until we meet again brother, continue to watch over us from up above!

We did not get the opportunity to serve together but your spirit flows through our Police Department. I'm sure you know by now but we lost a brother, Chris Driver, Saturday night. It has been really tough for all of us and it has brought back painful memories for some.

Over the last couple of days I have heard stories of you and Driver and it seems like you both had the same spirit, you both chose to spread positivity to the people that you are around.

I just want to take this time to thank you, to tell you that I've become friends with some of your family members that are in law enforcement now at different agencies that are close to Rocky Mount. One in particular, James Silver, has truly been a light in this time of Darkness for me and my fellow officers.

I hope you are looking down and you are proud of what you see and I know that you and Driver are together protecting those Pearly Gates.

I hope both of you are resting peacefully

Alan,

Wow, the time has flown even more since I last wrote to you. I'm sorry that it has taken me so long. I saw a reminder on my page today that was the video your brother posted about you with "See You Again". I watched it twice and it immediately reminded me of the times we shared together for the short time we had. Man those were the days and we all had so much fight and determination in us, couldn't wait to hit the streets to protect our city.

As you know from watching over, I've moved up the chain and have been a Detective now for almost 2 years, working every time of case I can think of. I know for sure that you would have been right here with me in CID. I look back some days and look at who still remains for our 10th Academy. Almost 10 years have gone by now and who would have ever thought we'd all end up where we are today. I really hope you are proud of us and continue to hold us all to that standard of Outstanding ratings. I hope you're keeping the streets of heaven under watch up there....and we will continue to watch over down here. It's been a long day without you my friend, but I'll tell you all about it when I see you again!

Until we meet again, RIP my brother in blue!

I barley remember my uncle because I was little when he died. It was today when my dad told my about this webpage and how a lot of people sent reflections. I didn't even know that my uncle knew so many people. I wish he was still here so I can know him more in person, but I know he's in a better place. I heard so many good things about him and these reflections just amazed me. Even though I knew him for only a few years he inspires me by all the stories my parents and grandparents told and tells me. At first i was a little scared to write up here but I knew that i had to because of what a great uncle I have. Thank you for setting a good example and for me and many others.
Love always,

My prayers go out to Officer Silver's family and friends. He left a hero and I wish he got to hear how great he was until the fateful incident. I know in the city of Rocky Mount he was not as appreciated as he should of been. So young and brave and he had to suffer this kind of fate. I and many others are proud of his contributes to this city and everything he has done in his little time of service. He took the "job" many would not take and took it with dignity and respect. Officer Silver you are always in my heart thank you!

Dear Alan,

I know this is odd as we have never met, but I met your mother and father today. We were all at a tire store waiting for our vehicles to be ready and started a friendly conversation. Your mother mentioned your brother who lives near Charlotte (or in Charlotte) and how much she enjoys visiting with him and his family. She seemed a little quiet as her memory of you crept up while we talked. She mentioned it to me later about your passing in 2007 and it broke my heart as I could feel her pain. I gave her a hug and it seemed to help ease her sadness. As we left the store your mom mentioned that she had a photo of you in her Bible and she kindly showed me. You were such a handsome young man and you seemed to have a kind soul. Your mother is such a kind spirit and I truly enjoyed meeting her today. Your father was also very kind and is taking care of your mother. I am so honored to have met her and to have learned of your contribution to the safety and well being of those who were in need during your years of service. May God bless your family as they await to be reunited with you one day.

Sincerely,
Mary Simpson
