I turned on the news today and heard of yet another officer shot and killed. It breaks my heart all over again. Time doesn't make it better, just tolerable. I miss you so much.

Your heroism and service is honored today as we approach the 2nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service.

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer. He was shot twice when ambushed on April 23rd when he was on a foot pursuit of two bank robbers, 2 years before your tragic death.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

Dave, I still remember getting the call from a zone Sgt from the local barracks of a NYSP shortly after he was notified of your death. I began the very hard task of notifying others of your death. Everyone was rocked by the death, continuing as the details came out. It had been a very hard year for the NYSP and the MRT. I keep in email contact with your Mom. She thinks of you all the time, but is there for other fallen Officers and injured Officers. We will always be here for your family.

It is hard to believe that it was two years ago, you still live strong in our hearts and minds. Please continue to watch over us as we work to make the world a better place for our children to grow up into. I was taken a back a few days ago when I was arresting an individual and saw your shield number on a previous arrest of this person--you have a way of making sure we never forget you, even for a minute.

David,

We had a wonderful ceremony yesterday to dedicate your memorial. The stone is absolutely beautiful. Isabella knew it was your photo almost instantly. What a wonderful little girl. Take heart that we will keep watch over her and Barbara.

You will live on in the hearts of many people.

It was my honor and privelege to meet several members of the Brinkerhoff family during the Trooper's Tour at Police Week in Washington. I hope you can take some comfort in knowing that your brothers and sisters with the Delaware State Police mourn your loss, and share your grief. Tpr. Brinkerhoff's service and dedication will never be forgotten, even by those of us who were not fortunate enough to have met him.
