Reflections for Police Officer Jason Campbell

Hey buddy,

Both my parents passed last year. I've been getting in lots more visits to see you because their graves are only a few yards from yours. I have been sporadically working out at our old spot when my normal gym is closed. It always brings back memories and keeps you on my mind.

We love and miss you, Brother.

One of my favorite Police Officers to do security at the movie theater. He was such a sweetheart and would talk to me during my shift to make time pass by faster. He was truly a good dude and was missed by everyone….

This guy came to investigate suspicious activity. My buddies and I were the suspicious activity, smoking weed in a new residential development. He was the coolest officer, he found some beer which was covered and being transported to a party afterwards. He made me empty out the beer and sent us on our way because we were respectful and compliant. He said “I was a kid once too, I’ve been in a very similar situation to the one that you’re in right now. I’m going to handle it the way I think it should have been handled when I was a kid.” We were on our way back from 8 hours of school and 6 hours of work and wanted to smoke a joint before we all went home and he acknowledged that’s all he thought was going on. His partner was kind of a jerk but we kinda deserved it and they were probably playing good cop/bad cop. Sadly he crashed into my next door neighbors son in law and passed away. If you were his partner and remember a kid breaking corona bottles on a curb to empty out the beer cutting his hand up, that was weirdly a fond memory and I thank you for it.

Hey brother its that time of the year to be in the woods or on the water, or college football on the tv ,man I miss you. Hunting and fishing season is just not the same. Not a day in the woods or on the water that you aren't in my thoughts or when Florida State plays. Until I will see you on the other side, safe a place for me we got a lot to catch up on. Love you brother.

Seven years, brother. It seems like it was just yesterday that I was home and got the call. I've sat here for a few minutes trying to think of something big and thoughtful to write but Ive got nothing other than I miss you, buddy. I miss you and I hate that I never got a picture with you to be able to look back on or that we were on opposite rotations and didn't see each other as much that last year. I'll see you again, though.

Hey Jason. I'm a bit late on the birthday wishes, but mean them just the same. Wow time has flown. I can't believe it's been nearly 7 years since you left us. It seems like just yesterday you were having Thanksgiving with us; or you and Craig were coming in from fishing. A photo of the two of you on the boat sits right next to Craig's chair. You are both grinning like cat's that ate the Canary. Matt and Tanner still talk about when you took them night flying. Seeing you walk in the door with Ashley in your arms always meant lots of laughter. She looks exactly like you. There is never a day that passes without conversation about you. And yes.....it still brings laughter. You were a great person Jason and you are missed EVERYDAY!

God Bless you for every day you walked the beat so others could rest at home.
