Barry,
We were in church today and they said the prayer of St. Michael the Archangel. It is fitting to think of you today, as I so often do, and thank you for keeping the watch above. We need all the help we can get down here. You are dearly missed my friend. God bless you and your family.

I have worked with Barry for a number of years in Newark. He was always a class act and a good friend who always had a minute to listen. Barry you may be gone but you will always live on in our hearts. Rest easy, ole buddy.

Barry, You were one of the first Special Agents I met when I reported to Newark. And we shared the same middle name. Little did I know all the advice you gave me and jokes you shared would guide me through many times during my 14 years in the FBI. You were one of a kind and I remember seeing you at a retirement party and joking with you about my being at HQ. I also got the chance to meet so many people from your life as I did your five year. What a joy to talk to so many who just had the most treasured stories about you, both professionally and personally. You were one of the most professional and skilled Agents I have worked with and a true advisor. I cherish the time I worked with you. I will remember you forever and run the Law Enforcement Memorial 5K in your honor. Rest in Peace my friend and keep a watch over all of us. Oh and make me laugh every once in a while. At HQ, we all need that every now and then.

Remembering you on this day. Today marks 4 years since we lost a wonderful man. Not a day goes by that we do not think about you and remember all the great memories that we had with you. You will forever be in our hearts. We all love and miss you so much! Keep an eye out for all of us down here and we will see you again someday...I look forward to the day I get to hear you say " hey kiddo" again.

May of 2007 in DC was a day to honor our fallen officers. But it was said that Barry was shot in the cross fire while the bank robbers were exiting the bank. What a dishonor to Barry and his family. As of today the family is trying to have something closer to the truth posted on the wall of fallen Agents in Newark, so the agents and new agents know what happen that horrific day. And to learn from the mistakes of that day. Barry will never be forgotten or the TRUTH.

Special Agent Barry Lee Bush was assigned to a surveillance team assiting in the investigation of a group of armed bank robbers in central New Jersey. On April 5, 2007, the bank robbers were followed to an area around Readington Township, NJ where the robbers were casing several banks. As two of the robbers pulled into a PNC Bank parking lot in a vehicle stolen earlier that morning, a third robber parked his vehicle across the street from the PNC Bank and acted as a lookout. As FBI SWAT team members converged on the stolen vehicle at the PNC Bank, Special Agent Bush and his team were advised to effect the arrest of the lookout across the street from the PNC Bank. Special Agent Bush arrived at this lookout vehicle and positioned his FBI vehicle pointing at the passenger's side of the lookout vehicle. FBI SWAT team members also arrived at the location and as Special Agent Bush began to exit his vehicle, a FBI SWAT team member, allegedly believing Special Agent Bush was a robber, fired three times, striking Special Agent Bush once in the right shoulder and mortally wounding Special Agent Bush. Thank you very much RL for having the stones to post exactly what happen that day. It was horrible what was said that day in D.C. to Honor the Fallen Officers by the Attorney General.

Barry,

We never met - didn't have to. As I sat at the 'going home' service for Judge Tolentino over the weekend, I was immediately reminded of you, and, the great service qualities you both shared. Just wanted you to know, I was here for you and your fellow agents when you were brought in on that tragic day. I've remained here ever since - and our team continues to hold you in prayer. Your courageous service will never be forgotten.

I am not sure why I decided to write to you today. I think its because i've been real stressed and upset about some things latley and I know your up there watching out for me and making sure things will be ok. Not a single day goes by that I don't think about you. I can still hear you saying "how ya doing kid." Even though its been over three years now It still dosn't seem real that your gone and even after all this time its still hard to face. You are my hero and I look up to what you did and what you achieved so much. Everytime we get together everyone has so many memories of you and we laugh and we remember the good times we've all had with you. You are forever in my heart Uncle Barry and I miss you so much and love you so much. I'm sure you are drinking some Corona's and playing some golf withouth throwing any clubs =) I love you and please keep watching out for all of us down here.
