Reflections for Lieutenant Corey Dahlem

Saw a Plaque and Memorial for this officer on a walk path on the island of Venice. There’s a beautiful Brass placard that mentions an oak tree that was planted in memory of this officer. I don’t know his connection to Venice but it’s at a beautiful place and one of the nicest views on the island of Venice. I’m sure Corry would’ve liked it

Corey,

I had to take the damn intoxilyzer course again for the 7th time in my career due to a recent military deployment and I missed the recert. I had to take the SFST course over for the 3rd time. Every time people ask why an old fart like me stays certified, I explain how you were taken way too soon and that DUI's are personal. Thank you for being my FTO as Corporal Dahlem and I remember your service like it was yesterday. RIP Brother and stay strong KD. Your Dad will never be forgotten!!!!

LT,
Another year has passed without you. I can't help but think of how much your influence is missed here. Katie is doing amazing things in her life and you would now be a Grandfather. Congratulations! Brandon is now a dad and I know you will be guiding him along that journey.

We miss you and celebrate the time that we did have with you.

The anniversary of the day we lost you is approaching. So much has changed at the agency and you should have retired this year. There is a plaque of you outside my office so I see your face many times throughout the day. You are not forgotten and we are looking after KD. Thank you for watching out over us.

Miss you dad. Had a bitter sweet week as Will, Rick, and Ed retired this week... As it should have been your week to retire I know you are proud as you are watching down on the three of them and enjoying your permanent retirement. You were recognized at the retirement ceremonies and surely have not been forgotten. You have left a legacy with GPD. Love you so much! You are a Hero forever.

LT. Dahlem,

Wanted to let you know I will be running in your honor during the 2013 National Police Week 5K in Baghdad, Iraq. I picked your name based on the professional and personal attibutes that you contributed to the department and community your served. It was a pleasure knowing you and working with you during midnight shift.

Spoon,
While running on the treadmill today at a hotel in DC someone came in from another office to see who was making all the noise. I smiled because it reminded me of you sticking your head in from your LT office on midnight shift when I was running. You will NEVER be forgotten!

Lt. Dahlem, we raffled a televison to raise funds for a law enforcement bike ride. You must have been watching because your relatives won. I hope this reflection is taken in the spirit given. Your family is still honoring you and supporting law enforcement.
God bless you and your family.

Spoon, you are greatly missed my friend. I remember all the times I walked into the PD and you smiled and said, "What's up Ace?" and I would reply, "Not much Spoon." Thinking about you and your family today. God Bless Brother and see you on the other side.
