Reflections for Police Officer Anthony Jon Holly

So hard to believe you would have been 40 years old today. You were taken from us at such a young age. Whenever I look back on your life I’m always amazed at the impact you had on so many while having spent such a short time on this orb. Needless to say I wish you were still here for my own selfish reasons. Today you’ll get to spend your 40th with Mikey, your namesake Grandpa Tony, and Grandpa Holly. Now that’s a celebration of storytellers that will keep you smiling and laughing all day. Just want you to know you’re remembered and missed and loved. Happy Fortieth!!!

Tony was the kind of person that everyone wanted to be, if we could only find it in ourselves to forgive all the trespasses against us. When asked “why do really want to be a cop, and spend a majority of your time dealing with the worst mankind has to offer”, without hesitation he simply replied to his Mom “so that you don’t have to”. And Tony really did make a difference in every life he touched; again that’s one of those things that we all strive for, but it just came natural to him.

I love and miss you Cousin, and it’s rare that a day goes by that I don’t think about you (most just say that, but I truly mean it) to try to make me a better person, and just a little bit more like you. It starts with just the small stuff like not getting worked up when someone cuts you off In traffic, all the way to the big things suck as trying to be there for our family like I know you would have been, and were for way too short of a time. I don’t always succeed in following the path you laid, though I’ll never stop trying.

Love you always,
Little Stevie

The penalty phase of the trial was today and justice -- if we can even call it that -- was finally served. From the victim impact statements delivered by your family and friends, it is very clear that you, dear Tony, are not forgotten -- not even slightly. We miss you with every breath.
All my love... always.

I am so touched by this story as I had an encounter with a family member of Officer Holly's. I tried to put myself in their shoes as the grief was still written on their face 11 years later. I am so thankful for all of the men and women who serve to protect us and put their lives on the line for us to have our safety. I am praying for the family.

More than 11 years has passed- how it can seem like both an eternity and just yesterday is a mystery. You are missed by so many. RIP Tony.

Tony, you are still in the hearts and minds of everyone that knew you. You are not a forgotten number. The service you gave to the Glendale community was nothing less the excellent and outstanding. I supported your fellow officers and your girlfriend at a car wash held in your honor, shortly after your death. I will continue to support you with your memorial sticker proudly displayed on my rear truck window. Rest in peace Tony!

Your laughter & smile will remain in our hearts forever. We would pass, you coming in from graves, me trudging in for the days. I can still see you smiling, while others were barely functioning, you were happy at the end of the shift. Full of energy & life, even though you are gone I can still hear you laugh. Smile for us, Anthony.

Nearly 7 1/2 years after you were taken from us, the trial has finally ended. While there is a sense of relief that the murderer will never be able to hurt anyone again, it does not lessen the grief or alleviate the chasm in our hearts that began early that February morning when the good Lord welcomed you home. You will always be loved, missed and remembered, Tony. We miss you with every breath.

I have read that the trial has started after seven long years. I know from experience that it will be an ordeal for all those that call you beloved, and I pray for strength for your family, both blood and blue. At Police Week this year, I had the pleasure of meeting your brother who chatted with us at the Wall as we all waited for the Candlelight Vigil to begin, and we all shared remembrances of our loved ones. I send a special prayer for him and for your mom Nancy.

While performing a search for old co-workers I was shocked to find out that a fellow crow had passed on. I remember some of the stories he would tell, he liked to have a good time while at work. I am sorry to learn of this news. May God rest his soul and may he give his family the strength to live on without him. See you on the other side Crow brother. AAAWWWKKK!!
