As a mother of an HPD officer, my heart goes out to the Favela ohana. When we heard the news, my family was shocked and saddened. I cannot even begin to imagine what you all are going through, but from all that I have heard and read, Officer Favela was someone that everyone was proud of and blessed to have had him in their lives. May God Bless his entire ohana & his HPD ohana as well!

I remember your coforting face as I visited clts in Kekela and recalled how calm and respectful you were to the many suffering people at Kekela. Although I did not know you personally, my ohana sends their love and prayers to your family and thank you for the labor of love that you left here in Hawaii with all that came in contact with you Officer Favela. May God be with your ohana at this time as we continue to pray for comfort for your family until we meet you with our Lord in heaven.

I met Steve about 9 years ago, when he cared for me as a CNA at QMC. I stayed there for over a month and the whole time I was there, I thought to myself, this guy really reminds me of someone. Near the end of my stay I had a visit from a close friend, who just so happend to be Steves brother. Then I knew who he reminded me of. A few years later I spent time with their family at parties and over the holidays. I got the chance to see what a great family they have and what a wonderful husband, father, brother, son and friend Steve was.

To Barb and the entire Favela family Stay strong for eachother and know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Take Care and God Bless.

It is said that a person truely dies when they are forgotten. You will never be forgotten, Steve. We served the United States in the U.S. Coast Guard, and the State of Hawaii as law enforcement officers. I asked God not to take you from us so soon, however he must have better plans for you. Take care my friend, I will miss you, but and we will meet someday. I will always remember you saying at the range, "I gotcha in the ear."

To Barbara and the Favela family, may God continually bless you in your time of need. I am sure that God and Steve will watch over you.

God Bless,

My wife and I are here in Palm Desert California reading the story written in the Honolulu Advertiser that our son, also an officer in HPD, forwarded. While none of us personaly knew officer Steve Favela, our heart is aching from the loss of this peace officer. We reach out to the family and put them in prayer, that the love of God will comfort them during this time of loss.

God Bless our men and women in uniform who serve their Nation and Community. A love gift will be forwarded to the family.

Thank you Honolulu Advertiser for this specical forum in honoring a fallen officer and moment of reflection of Steve Favela. It is apparent that officer Favela was a dutifull servant for HPD and great provider to his family.

A Message from Heaven, sent by a Friend...
Perhaps you aren't ready yet
To have to say Good-Bye
Perhaps you've thought of things
You wished you had said...
For one thing I've told you
Not of worry about me...
I'm with the Lord in heaven now
You knew that is where I would be

I'm sorry that you are feeling sad,
For I am so happy now...
I've asked the Lord to eas the hurt
And comfort you some how
It's hard at the beginning,
But I know you will make it through
I hope it helps to know
That I will be waiting here for you.

Barbara,

I met you and Steve when I worked for QMC Security, between working for HPD and PHPD. Back than, Steve was already in training for Police Work when he use to protect patients, staff, and visitors at Kekela. Sometimes becoming a Police Office can change a person.....but not Steve. He remained humble, repectful to everyone, and loving to friends and family. He is Top Gun, Cream of the Crop. You and your kids are always in my prayers. God Bless!!!

To the Favela Family,

My most sincere sympathies to each of you in your time of sorrow. No words can ease your mind or heal your broken hearts, but time will somehow ease the pain. Although, I didn't know Steve well, I'm told he was a AWESOME Father, Husband and Family Man. I find this easy to believe as I do know he was an outstanding HPD Officer who brought great credit to the Honolulu Police Department and the Law Enforcement Community. The HONOR, COURAGE and DEDICATION with which he served won't be forgotten, and will provide as an example for those of us left behind to follow. As Steve served the community so faithfully on the THIN BLUE LINE, he will now walk with and serve our Lord in Heaven.

As each of you mourn his loss and celebrate his life in the weeks and years to come, you will remain forever in my prayers.

As Steve made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, he obviously lived a rich life, surrounded by a loving family and doing what he loved most.

Matthew 5:9
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

God bless each and everyone of you.

Steve, I hope and pray to God that you will rest in eternal peace. You are such a great guy and will be sorely missed by ALL! You have given the ultimate sacrifice for your country, department, and your family. May God bless your entire family that he may give them the strength to go on. Your brothers and I played ball together and your parents were so nice and kind to us while we were in high school. I feel as if part of me has died with you. My heart is very heavy and You will never be forgotten, I can't believe that you are gone, love you brother! Peace be with you and your family!
