Reflections for Master Police Officer David George Whitson

I think of you quite often Slim, your laugh, jokes and goofing attitude. I have always admired your attitude towards life. It was an honor knowing and working with you. Rest in Peace brother.

Slim,

I remember you during my explorer post years. Still remember the raido call, and the surreal feeling at the jail the day of your funeral.

Hi there... I smile thinking of the stories I could tell regards my time as a Policeman (badge number 42) with the BGPD during the wild west days of mid sixties. I suppose its needless to say, we didn't abide with the abuse cops are taking today.

Slim. We lost a fellow officer yesterday from the Phoenix Field Division. This made me think of you and remember the good laughs we had together. Like during explosive training you just jumped in truck and started backing up, happy as hell. Sure made Ricky W happy!!!!!. Sure miss you brother.

I did not know you but today 5-8-15 our paths crossed. I found a bracelet while metal detecting and it says "Officer David "Slim" Whitson Bowling Green Police Department End Of Watch 10-31-2006."

I will be trying to find the owner of this bracelet to return it. If anyone knows who may have lost it in St. Augustine beach or Anastastia State Park beach please let me know.

I'm not looking for a reward and will cover the cost to return it as a tiny token of respect because of officer's like this "I" live more comfortably and I appreciate it deeply.

Hey Slim,

There isn't a day that goes by that you don't enter my mind. It could be seeing your pictures at the department, hearing someone quote a movie, or even driving by Taco Bell (some rainy nights were passed sitting car to car under an overhang and eating Mucho Grande Nachos with you). We miss you and even though the posts on this wall are more sporadic you can rest knowing you will never be forgotten. God bless you, buddy.

We lost a CID agent here (Afghanistan) at the first of the month, the loss brought back memories of 10/31/2006. I'll miss your memorial for the first time this year and though I'll not be there in person, you and your loved ones will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I remember when I ran the NASCAR store in Greenwood Mall. You would come in and we would talk racing all the time. We became friends over the period of a couple years. I remember heckling you over being a Jeff Gordon fan. What I'd give if I could run into you again just to hear you ask me if I "had any new Gordon stuff." I miss you buddy. My heart broke when I got the news and it still stings even now. I get a knot in my chest when I'm in Richmond for inservice and visit the Fallen Officers Wall and see your name. God Bless you my friend, I'll see you again someday!
