Reflections for Staff Sergeant Michael Joseph Watts

Mike,
This may be a little late, but I never wanted to grasp the fact that you were gone. The Lord only takes us when we are ready and he must have been ready for you to wreak havoc in his kingdom. You're kids are going to do great things because of who their father was...I truly miss having you around at Malmstrom, but I will see you soon when it is time for me to enter the gates of Heaven, and then we can wreak havoc together...R.I.P. Broham, the Lord has a true soldier in his kingdom HUAH!

I didn't know Mike very well, but the guys I know who did know him well, always spoke of him as the guy who was a family man as well as a hard core cop. My prayers go out to his family, his wife and two kids and his extended family.

Aloha Staff Sergeant Michael Joseph Watts,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe, will NEVER be forgotten.

I personally pledge, (after one of Hawaii's own, Honolulu Police Officer Steve Favela, lost his life in the line of duty protecting our Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush), to become a continuum of the ODMP light. That light is in the form of an ODMP tribute. People from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, religion, profession, education, and geographical location can share here. That "LIGHT" comes from within the heart and soul of every person who cares to share a word or two on behalf of each and every fallen officer. Every fallen officer is an hero. The ODMP; Officer Down Memorial Page gives us a place to come together and share our feelings as one family. May we find comfort as we give comfort to the families who have lost a loved one.

As we say in Hawaii, “We are`Ohana.” We are family. God Bless this fallen hero. May we embrace him as one of our own family member; our `Ohana. No one will ever be able to replace you for you were unique and very special. No one; not in this lifetime. May God allow you to rest in His Divine peace.

Staff Sergeant Michael Joseph Watts, I wish you, your loved ones, your fellow officers, and friends, peace and love beyond all understanding.
--- May this Hawaiian prayer give all those who read it comfort. ---

THE PEACE OF " I "
KA MALUHIA O KA "I"

Peace be with you, All My Peace,
O ka Maluhia no me oe, Ku'u Maluhia a pau loa,

The Peace that is " I ", the Peace that is "I am".

The Peace for always, now and forever and evermore.

My Peace " I " give to you, My Peace " I " leave with you,

It is always sad to hear of the loss of another brother. To his wife, children, family and friends.. I know that God will hold you dear to his heart and help you through this terrible time. Please know that God has a special place in heaven for those that place themselves between the good and evil in this world. You should be proud of Michael and his commitment to the security of this great nation, and its people.
+ Rest now brother, we will stand the watch now +

I never dreamed it would be me
My name for all eternity
Recorded here at this hallowed place
Alas, my name, no more my face

"In the line of duty" I hear them say
My family now the price will pay
My folded flag stained with their tears
We only had those few short years

The badge no longer on my chest
I sleep now in eternal rest
My sword I pass to those behind
And pray they keep this thought in mind

I never dreamed it would be me
And with heavy heart and bended knee
I ask for all here from the past
Dear God, let my name be the last
(Author unknown)

+God bless all the men and women in blue.+
And may God bring all our troops home safe to their families.

To his wife,
I wanted to pass on my deepest sympathy for your family’s loss. I had the opportunity to work with SSgt Watts for around 2 years and he always had the strongest attributes of a professional NCO and most importantly a family man. Michael was one that anyone could depend on and he always had a smile on his face no matter what the problem or challenge was. The one thing that I always enjoyed about Mike was his laugh. His laugh always made everyone around him happier and brought a positive light on everything. Mike is a very dependable and dedicated NCO, no matter what he was tasked with, he always completed the task on time and with above expected results. I know that within those two years, he spent sometime away from home helping the Tactical Response Force stand up and was TDY for training, exercises, and even more training. He was always chosen because of his positive personality, leadership, intelligence, and the trust that the rest of the men had in him. I want to thank you for sacrificing your family time with him and supporting him during his training and TDY’s. A stable home and a supportive family always made the difference and you can tell that he always had that. Your family will always be in my prayers and may god always bless you and your family. Mike will truly be missed by everyone...

My thoughts and prayers go out to you, Mike and to your family. From what I hear, your wife has got to be the strongest women ever. God bless you all! My son, Brandon, talks about joining the military often and he is forever telling his friends and anyone who will listen how he has cousins that are in the military. Mike,
My Flt. Sgt. called me in the office today and asked if I knew a Michael watts, and I said yes why? I told him you were a good friend of mine ay malmstrom, and lost touch with people from my last base, why? he then told me what happened. Mike I dont know what to say. I just last week lost one of my really good friends( a marine mp)in motor ehicle accident, and now you have passed. Know I now for a fact what they say is so true, only the good die young. Mike I love all my fellow sp to death, in good times and bad, but you two were like brothers to me. I loved you two like family. Like I said to him at his funeral, please, please watch over us not as fortunate as you two, and make sure we make the right decisions in life, and guide us through these tough times. I know you two will meet and help me out, and I am with you in spirit. Well I ahve to go back to work, but R.I.P mikey, and you will be loved for ever.

Thank you very much for your service to our country and I wish the very best to SSgt Watts' family and fellow security forces brothers and sisters during this terrible tragedy. Not many people understand or realize the sacrifices SF members make patrolling the vast missile fields of the mid-west 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in some of the worse weather conditions you could imagine to ensure the safety and security to our country. I am a Pennsylvania State Trooper, a soldier of the law.

To me is entrusted the honor of the force.

I must serve honestly, faithfully, and if need be, lay down my life as others have done before me, rather than swerve from the path of duty.

It is my duty to obey the law and to enforce it without any consideration of class, color, creed or condition.

It is also my duty to be of service to anyone who may be in danger or distress, and at all times so conduct myself that the honor of the force may be upheld.

SSgt WATTS did not swerve from the path of duty. Rest in peace brother in blue. We'll take the watch from here.

I knew Mike from Malmstrom AFB. I flew him around Montana to many times to count. For all of you who didn't know Mike I can tell you that you will not find a better person. He was so full of life, willing to do anything for his friends. Mike I can't believe you're gone. I can still remember looking back from the cockpit and seeing your face. You will be missed brother, may you rest in peace.
