To the family and loved ones of Officer Raul Canales-Mundo, his fellow officers with the Carolina Municipal Police Department, and most especially to Raul:

On this the second anniversary month of your tragic death, please know that you are honored and revered today and everyday.

From all the loving reflections left about you, I can see that you were an amazing man and what a grievous loss your loved ones have endured because of your brutal murder.

May your spirit continue to soar and your memory continue to inspire. You are loved and missed by so many.

Rest in Peace, Raul. A body is but for a lifetime, but spirits and souls are for eternity and yours is forever part of those who call you beloved.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Raul gave to his community and the citizens of Puerto Rico, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 4, 2006.

Aloha Police Officer Raul Canales-Mundo,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe, will NEVER be forgotten.

I personally pledge, (after one of Hawaii's own, Honolulu Police Officer Steve Favela, lost his life in the line of duty protecting our Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush), to become a continuum of the ODMP light. That light is in the form of an ODMP tribute. People from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, religion, profession, education, and geographical location can share here. That "LIGHT" comes from within the heart and soul of every person who cares to share a word or two on behalf of each and every fallen officer. Every fallen officer is an hero. The ODMP; Officer Down Memorial Page gives us a place to come together and share our feelings as one family. May we find comfort as we give comfort to the families who have lost a loved one.

As we say in Hawaii, “We are`Ohana.” We are family. God Bless this fallen hero. May we embrace him as one of our own family member; our `Ohana. No one will ever be able to replace you for you were unique and very special. No one; not in this lifetime. May God allow you to rest in His Divine peace.

I remember when I came back on the force after serving in the Navy you were the number one Bike Cop; not only on the streets but inside the police station also. You were always willing to help in and out of uniform. That williness was never diminished even after I made Sergeant you always demostrated your support in any situation we were involved in. You could never have imagine the long list of people you influence throughout your career. I know you are probably patrolling your new beat, keeping an eye on us.

To my cousin, a Fallen brother and true hero. May the Lord Bless your family in this time of sorrow. You died a true hero and displayed a great sense of bravery that many can't comprehend. You are truly a man of honor and you will be recognized as such. Your calling was to be a Police Officer and you died doing what you enjoyed the most.
