Reflections for Detective Corporal Charles Eugene Smith, II

Chucky,
I will miss you deep inside. However, I know that I will see you again someday. When I heard of the news of your untimely departure a part of me died as well. My life has been enriched by knowing you. I would have never made it through the WVSPA 111th basic academy class without you. For my career I thank you. The fun and memories we have shared I will hold onto them for ETERNITY.
I pray for the comfort of God to be with your family and friends at this trying time that faces them. With deepest love and admoration I send this relection as a testiment of my feelings for you. May the Grace and Love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be with you. AMEN

Rest easy brother, so many years we were just down the road from one another. I felt so releived when I came back from Christiansburg last week. i thought it was over for awhile. It wasn't, you were needed elsewhere more than here. So, you've done your work, bourne your burden, and paid the highest sacrifice. Go reap your reward; peace and quiet away from this place, we'll try to cover it as best we can without you.

The hearts and prayers of the Mercer County Sheriff's Dept. go out to you and your family, we won't forget.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice. As long as there are young people in this nation, there will always be a "war on drugs." I am glad that there are officers like Detective Corporal Smith who still haven't given up on keeping drugs out of society and risk it all for that. God bless him and his family and friends.

Just Remember Me

When you carve my name
Into that hard marble wall,
Please don’t let my name ever be
A name that you can’t recall.
Just remember me
A man whose heart was true,
A man who proudly wore
His badge and the blue.
Just remember the daddy
Of now a fatherless child
A girl that will grow up
And make her mother proud.
The loving man
Who held his wife under a moonlit sky,
A strong man
Who knew how to cry.
Please don’t let my name
Die with me too,
And just remember
I was proud to wear the blue.

Rest in Peace my Brother.
