Your heroism and service is honored today, the 72nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service to my home state and the birthplace of my son. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

How nice that your family can leave a reflection for you.
Rest In Peace

Hey Grandpa, we are finding out information about you daily. Although as Patty said in her rememberance, we did not have the opportunity to know you because you were killed in the line of duty before we were born. We are proud of you though, and I know you will hear me. I have been contacting folks at the Catawba County Sheriff's Dept. and you (and all fallen heroes)are being acknowledged in Washington DC on May 13, 2008. You deserve it. I just wish I had had the opportunity to know you. You would have been proud of your daughter, and my father. They got us kids to where we are today with love, discipline, and good financial advice. Your great-grandson is going into law enforcement also. We love you.
Your Grand Daughter, Linda Davis

Deputy Sheriff James Alvin McRee was my grandfather on my mother's side. Sadly I never knew him because he was killed before I was born. He left a wife, son and daughter (all deceased now), my mother was only 16 years old when she lost her father, they were very close. Recently my mother passed away and we came across a picture of my grandfather which we will try to post here. He is remembered in our hearts and we are extremely proud of him.

North Carolina has been blessed to have been served and protected by so many wonderful officers, and we mourn for those we have lost, no matter how long ago. 67 years after you died, within the same month even, NC lost another hero, my Daddy.
Thank you for your service and sacrifice- you will not be forgotten, and now you are getting the recognition you deserve. Thank you, Sir.
