Reflections for Inspector Kieran Tyon Shields

My family and I wish to extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Kieran. Good friends always stay in your thoughts. I always remember Kieran as different from the rest. Making good out of every situation is what stands in my memory the most. Making you laugh even if you didn't want to. That was back in highschool and from what I know now, he hadn't changed. I am blessed to have known him. May GOD bless his wife and children as his spirit lives in you.

My sincere sympathy to the entire Shield family. Although I did not know Det. Kieran personally, I still felt heart broken because of the connection I still have with the City of Orange as well as other members of the Orange Police Department. I pray that God will continue to give you all strength and comfort during this time of mourning. Just remember, look to the hills from which cometh your help ~ your help cometh from the Lord!

To the family of this brave officer who gave his life defending the rights and safety of all he served remember this: he loved you all above all else and if he could have chosen to stay, he would be with you now, but God needed another Guardian Angel to stand watch and he recruited one of the best.
May God bless and keep you in this painful and sorrowful time. May you always turn your faces to the sun and feel the love he has for you.

To the family and loved ones of Detective Kieran Shields and his fellow officers with the Orange Police Department:

I wanted to express my sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Detective Shields was killed in the line of duty. I hope that you are comforted by the support of your law enforcement family, and other police survivors. There are many people who will help you on the painful journey ahead. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Although I never had the privilege of meeting Kieran, I feel as if I know him through the loving reflections left by loved ones and friends. His valor and courage will never be forgotten.

I hope that God is holding him in the sweetest part of his heart and the most gentle part of his soul.

I am so sorry that Kieran was robbed of his life so young and so tragically, but through his heroism and the profound sense of duty with which he lived his life, he made an immeasurable difference. May his spirit continue to soar and may his memory continue to inspire.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Kieran gave to his community and the citizens of New Jersey, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on August 7, 2006.

To the family of Det.Sheilds. His day is done, his test he has won. He's been called home to sit at the Throne. Don't cry for him for you will never walk alone.

August 11, 2006

Det. Shields,
I had the pleasure of knowing you from HCO.
My heart breaks over your loss. I will keep you, your
family and your Dept. in my thoughts and prayers forever.
The OPD has not truly healed since the last tragic loss.
May your family, brothers and sisters in blue find comfort. What you did in life will echoe greatness thru eternity. Your children will know you as a true hero. I pray that the justice system will some day get it right and that criminals stay behind bars instead of just revolving thru the doors.
Rest easy knowing your loved ones will be taken care of.
Godspeed my brother.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
