Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Michael Anthony Callin

Today is the day after August 2nd and my heart still feels your loss. The practical jokes you played....or the consideration of help you always brought to one in need. You my son brought joy to my heart. You are thought of often and are missed significantly. You still bring a joy to have the memory I so richly enjoy and look forward. With that comes the absence of your kaugh and your sprit of giving! Our Lord brings us comfort beyond all understanding. I will always bring to mind who you are. Not were!

Almost everyday a law enforcement officer is murdered in the line of duty. Why is it that you never hear about it except when it is reported days later. Had this murder still been in prison our hero would still be alive. America it’s time to demand that our officials force these criminals to serve out their sentences !!

Remembering the selfless sacrifice of Deputy Michael Callin. Deputy Callin is a true Florida Hero that selflessly put himself in harm's way protecting the citizens and especially children of Orange County. His actions on this date in 2006, were surely intended to prevent innocent others from being endangered. Thoughts and prayers remain with Deputy Callin's widow and family, loved ones and the members of the Orange County Sheriff's Office. When passing through the area of John Young Pkwy and W. Colonial, my thoughts reflect on Michael and I pray for the safety of officers similarly in harm's way in the service of others.

Miss you brother. A lot. Was looking at the agency awards list and saw my name there with 20yrs on. Some of our friends are on that list too. You weren't. I was sad to say the least. Crying as I write this. That's all. Rest easy.

Michael,

Today we visited the National Law Enforcement Memorial in honor of you. It was an emotional and humbling experience. We miss you dearly and are so thankful for the time we had with you here on earth. Thank you for being the friend you were. You have touched so many lives and it was a privilege to call you a Friend.
It's hard to believe that you've been gone now for 11 years this month.

My son Michael,
Another year has brought us to showing our community who you are! We have just finished the Michael Callin Memorial Golf Tournament in your honor and it was a complete SELL OUT! So many came to acknowledge you, how you served and how you are remembered. It was great my son. You are still loved and thought of each day, yes each day, I am reminded of the kind of son you are who has given your life in service. We will continue to keep you and your other brothers and sisters that have fallen in the fore front of our minds and hearts.

Michael,

Our family just returned from national police week. It was a bitter sweet time. I am so humbled when I think of the man and brother you were. I wish my kids could have gotten to know you. You would have loved them. They certainly love and respect you for not a day goes by we don't think of you or speak of you or remember something something about you that makes us smile. I love you.

As we are here in Washington DC (2013 Police Week), I couldn't be more proud of you my son. There are so many from our law enforcmeent family who are hurting because of thier extraordinary loss. We hope to come along side and share our hope.

This year your neice, Ellianna (2 years old), came with Christina, Ron, and mom to share with others who you are and to encourage others in hope. Ellianna was shown your name on the wall and she rubbed her tiny fingers across your name. I know she loves you and as she grows will know who you are as man with a testimony. You were the son I dreamed I would have and your character reflects your legacy. We will always remember!

I am the Police, and I’m here to arrest you. You’ve broken the law. I did not write the law. I may disagree with the law but I will enforce it. No matter how you please, cajole, beg or attempt to stir my sympathy. Nothing you do will stop me from placing you in a steel cage with gray bars. If you run away I will chase you. If you fight me I will fight back. If you shoot at me I will shoot back. By the law I am unable to walk away. I am consequence. I am the unpaid bill. I am fate with a badge and a gun. Behind my badge is a heart like yours. I bleed, I think, I love and yes I can be killed. And although I am but one man, I have thousands of brothers and sisters who are the same as me. They will lay down their lives for me and I them. We stand watch together. The thin blue line, protecting the prey from the predators, the good from the bad. WE ARE THE POLCE
