Your heroism and service is honored today, the one hundred and second anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. I am glad that the State of Iowa formally recognized your sacrifice.

Rest In Peace.

Gowrie, the little Iowa town where Marshall Nicholson was murdered in 1908 seemed, over the intervening decades, to forget Marshall Nicholson's sacrifice.
However,in a ceremony at the Iowa State Capitol in May 2005, Marshall Nicholson was enrolled in Iowa's memorial to fallen Iowa peace officers and, therefore, he now will not be forgotten and this is very important to my family.
