Dear Uncle,

When you gave the ultimate sacrifice, I was merely 8 years old and unable to understand the implications of what had happened. I am now a recruit in the same academy you instructed, and able to fully understand the great sacrifice you gave. You are an inspiration to myself, my class, and many others. Thank you for all that you did, both in your military service and on the best sheriff's department in the United States.

Dear David,

I have never known you. But it is obvious the impact you have on the world you left behind. Your mother is the one who introduced me to your story and family. It is a honor to be a part of your growing memory. Not many leave behind a living memory, but you do. Everyday someone new learns about you, your story, your family and your legacy. It is a honor and a privilege to now be a part of this flame. I will cherish your memory by doing my best to reflect your attitudes and sacrifices everday. God bless you Sheriff David Stan Piquette. God bless your family, large and small. And God bless your mother, who stokes the fire every day.

I have known David and his family since I was in 3rd grade. They took me in as one of their own and what a great person and family it is. The loss of David was so hard for them and still is but they keep his memory alive everyday and he will never be forgotten. David was the older brother I always wanted and his younger brother rich and I would do everything to be like him. It's been 10 yrs but seems like yesterday I got the news. To Lan, Bill , and Shawna - David was a man amount men. To his pride and joy, his children - your dad was a hero and you were everything to him. He will always be with you and always look to him as your role model in life because you couldn't pick a better person to aspire to be like. I love and miss all of you and hope to see you soon!

Dear Sir, it's an honor to be touched by your service & sacrifice. I know of no greater sacrifice than of those who protect us. It's humbling that this is the sacrifice of your family too. Even today you are affecting the lives of others in great & positive ways. You see, sir, it is through your service that I've gained my strength to live the rest of my life teaching others through my example how to love, honor & respect our protectors. I understand it is also our loss as civilians when you went away. But I have faith you're watching over us still. My heartfelt everlasting gratitude for your heroism. It is indeed an honor to our country to have the loyalty of such a hero as you. Sincerely...

I was honored in partaking in the 10th annual memorial run last Thursday honoring Deputy Stan piquette and the life he served. He was a soldier who served our country and then he served our community as a Deputy who protected our streets. I took pride in learning about Deputy Piquette and all his accomplishments, his life has inspired me to work harder and cherish my life and to not take life for granted. I had the honor of meeting his parents and I'm just so lucky I was able to take part in such a wonderful event.

As a part of Class 415, I thank you for inspiring us all to be the best that we can be. I hope that we can all become the type of Deputies that would have made you proud.

I was apart of the memorial run for Deputy Piquette and I was very honored to be involved in it. From the stories told about Deputy Piquette, he is now an inspiration to what I want to be as a Deputy one day. The respect that he earned from his partners is amazing and shows how great of a person he was. Thank you to Deputy Piquette for your service, thank you to all those who put the run together and allowing Class 415 to be involved, and a special thank you to his mother for coming into our class to show us pictures of Deputy Piquette and talk about him.

Dear Deputy Piquette,

As part of Class 415, i had the pleasure to participate along with the rest of my class in your 10th annual and final run. Prior to the run I, along with many of my current classmates had never experienced anything like it. Running up the your hill along side with other deputies and sergeants gave many LASD and PAs recruits a great sense of pride and inspiration. I am thankful your family, friends, and our staff for giving us the opportunity to participate in your run. Although you might not be with us physically, your spirit is, and your legacy lives on. I thank you for service and commitment to both your country and your department.
