Reflections for Chief of Police Harvey Lee Dellinger

Chief Harvey Dellinger was a relative - his widow was part of my grandfather's North Carolina Weeks family. I was both saddened and proud to discover his story.

Even in the little town of Washington, NC, there are people like him, the heroes who run toward the trouble, not away.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 83rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service to my home state and the birthplace of my son. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Rest In Peace

It has taken a long time to have a memorial for the fallen officers but it takes a special person to become a law enforcement officer. We dont do this job for the glory or the money. May you now receive the glory you deserved for your sacrifice in the line of duty.
