Officer Scott,

My Mother and I passed the Highway 99 exit where your life was taken at 4:25 A.M. on the morning of the shooting, 15 minutes before your death. When I heard of the news I was shocked and sickened, you touched many lives in this area in life as well as in your time of death. Hearing the stories of your friendliness and kindness from your friends and co-workers made those of us in the community that didn't know you, wish we had. I myself did not know you, but I took a beautiful bouquet of red roses and a bunny to the make-shift memorial outside your home. I also went to pay my respects on the day of your funeral and found that I was not the only citizen that had been touched by this tragic loss, many were standing on the street watching the motorcade and sobbing openly. May you rest in peace, you are not with us in flesh, but you are still here in spirit.
I would like to thank the Modesto PD and CHP who protect and serve us while sacrificing their own, you are all in my prayers.

To the family, and fellow highway patrolmen of Officer Scott we extend our deepest sympathy for your loss.It saddens and angers me that someone could be so heartless and have complete disregard for life. May all that love and know him find comfort in each other, and may he rest in peace in the arms of the Lord.

Thank you for keeping us safe as we travel on California highways. We may never know how many of our lives were saved because of the drunk driver you pulled over or other criminals that you apprehended. My family and I drove down from Sacrmanto to pay our respects by waving flags during your procession. God bless you and yours.

Officer Scott: I read all the news articles regarding your funeral and looked at all the photographs
and read all the nice things people
had to say about you. It just breaks
my heart that we had to say good-bye
to you too soon. You were a special
officer from a special family and your
sacrifice was too dear. I can tell that
you will be missed forever and that
no one else will ever fill your shoes.
Thank you for being involved in others' lives and for giving of yourself
so freely. The pain of losing you
is so great for so many people. May
God heal their broken hearts as only
He can do. Thank you for your service. Time will never diminish the sacrifice. John 3:16

Although we did not know him
We knew that he was there
When we wake in the morning
When we sleep at night
We somehow knew he was there
He was there to protect us
And give us peace of mind
Although we did not know him
We are left to grieve
For a man that was so kind
