Reflections for Officer Earl Harwood Scott

Dear Family&co-workers of Officer Scott, may you know that thoghts and prayers are with you as the holidays approach. plase know Earl will never be forgotten. May the peace and strength only God can give embrace you. Earl will forever be a Hero to the rest of us. As Earl took his final flight, a host of Fallen Officer stood at attention and saluted, saying "welcome Home,Brother", he now patrols streets of gold and keeps watch over the loved ones he left behind. I know he had to be proud to be a patrolman, following in the footsteps of his dad,and other family members. God Speed Earl........Take your rest now. Love and Prayers,Carolyn Moore Mother-in-law of Sgt.Jeffrey T.Hewitt EOW 04-04-04 Asheville,N.C.

Trooper Scott. You are one of 17 since the year 2000. One is too many but the CHP has really been unfortunate in losing sooo many good people. Your killer caught, I am sure he will get final justice. Not only from the courts but from God as well. May your family and friends realize that so many people are touched by your short but meaningful life. A true hero, you will be etched on a wall with all others lost. May God hold you and yours in this time of grief and may your family know that you have touched me, someone that you didn't even know. Thank you, sir. Thank you.

Earl you are so missed in our home, but not in our hearts. There you will always reside. They say that one day in heaven is like a thousand years on Earth. You've had more than enough time to set up a SWEET garage there in the mansion that God has promised those who love him. I hope the place next door to you is open.
Rest in Peace, Earl.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Officer Scott. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.

From reading all the reflections left for Earl, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Earl's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Earl's life was about so much more than the way he died. Earl will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Officer Scott, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been three years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

AWAY
-James Whitcomb Riley

I cannot say, and I will not say
That he is dead. He is just away!

With a cheery smile and a wave of the hand,
He had wandered into an unknown land.

And left us dreaming how very fair
It needs must be, since he lingers there.

And you-oh you, who the wildest yearn
For the old time step and the glad return-

Think of him faring on, as dear
In the love of There as the love of Here;

And loyal still, as he gave the blows
Of his warrior strength to his country's foes-

Mild and gentle, as he was brave,
When the sweetest love of his life he gave

To simple things; where the violets grew
Pure as the eyes they were likened to,

The touches of his hands have strayed
As reverently as his lips have prayed;

When the little brown thrush that harshly chirred
Was dear to him as the mocking-bird;

And he pitied as much as a man in pain
WA writing honey-bee wt with rain.

Think of him still as the same, I say;
He is not dead - he is just - away!
