I remember going to Officer Scott's Memorial service as a Recruit at Ray Simmons there in Modesto. Our Acedemy class went to his service and it was a very humbling experience. To this day I still think about that day when ever I hear of an Officer's death. Thank you for your ultimate sacrific. I am and will always be proud to call you my Brother. RIP Officer Scott. You will always be remembered and never forgotten.

Yesterday's Memorial Ceremony brought back a lot of memories, some happy and some sad. Brandon did an awesome job describing the kind of person you were Earl. I think of everyday, and am honored to have worked along side a man like you. I am proud to call my friend.

Earl today was a hard day. You have been gone for 6 years now. This morning felt like early morning 6 years ago. Today your friends and family honored with a roadway dedication in front of your beloved CHP Office. After that concluded there was a special ceremony at The Gallo Center. Your wonderful friend Brandon gave a very nice speech. He spoke about so many things and nailed you right down to your smile that always left people wondering what you knew that they didn't know.

Earl I want you to know that Chris, Tiffany and I think of you every single day. We now know that forever in time when people drive down the roadway that now bears a sign with your name on it , that they will know that CHP Officer Earl Scott was a very important person to so many people. You will be forever in our hearts and are forever our hero. We love you and miss you every single day. Heaven smiles down a little brighter with your smile lighting up every corner.

I did not know Officer Scot, but do know the many he effected, and as always, the good ones are the ones for the most part that go first. Officer Scott and Sgt Howie Stevenson are two of the many men and women we as a community have lost. My heart aches for those who lives are a bit more empty without these amazing people in their lives. I an a news reporter for Clear Channel and was on for both of those tragedies and will never forget either one of them and the people who were so lost and grief stricken. His dedication ceremony is coming up and Clear Channel will be running some PSA's inviting the community to come out and celebrate this and his ultimate tragedy. Part of these PSA's I would like to get people who knew him and share a one to two sentence or longer about him, I can explain more if interested. Please call me at Clear Channel Radio if interested at (209) 551-1306 and ask for Kara Franklyn. I want to make sure that the public remembers not only what an outstanding officer he was, but what a guy! Thankyou

I found this page after reading that Assemblywoman Olsen had authored a bill to Honor Officer Scott by naming SR 219 in his honor. Not knowing him, but reading remembrances posted by those who did, shows what a special person and giving individual he was. The general public often takes for granted the difficult job that law enforcement does and sadly sometimes paying the ultimate price. To the family and friends who knew him, my condolences and hopefully when people see the memorial signs go up on SR219, they'll take the time to read about his sacrifice and reflect on how we all are safer due to his heroic service.

Officer Scott I wanted to stop by and thank you again for your service and brave sacrifice...there are many days that I see your in memory sticker on cars in our area. I like to see that others remember your service and are proud to remind the public that you so bravely sacrificed your life for our protection! Police week starts on May 1st and Howard's family and I will be among many remembering the sacrifice of so many others. I keep your family in my prayers and am glad that justice has been served. May God bless all of our brave officers still out there doing the Job! and keep them from harm...I look forward to meeting you in Heaven

There is still not a day that passes that I don’t reflect in some way towards the memory of Earl. I try my best to have positive reflections that may lift my spirit, and not think about that dreadful day when I received that phone call.

Earl and I created so many stories together, of which I constantly find myself laughing and grinning about. I am reminded of the time I locked Earl out of our apartment (LOL).. we had been out on the town having fun, I went back home to get some sleep while he stayed with some friends (probably Robert H…LOL).. Earl came back to the apartment and I had locked the door, and he had no key. I guess he knocked a few times, but I never answered. I woke up the next morning to Earl staring at me through the sliding glass door, which scared the heck out of me..LOL. Earl had slept out on the balcony in a sleeping bag. We laughed for days about that deal.

Earl was so light-hearted and so very caring. He was true to his word, and bailed me out of many situations that only a true friend/brother would. I miss those times, but thanks Earl for leaving me the memory of many great stories.

BTW.. I posted your 5 years of being gone on my FB page. In effort to honor you and your sacrafice. Justice has been served, and my anger is gone. I smile daily thinking of you bud.. thanks for everything. :)

We all still miss you!

I thought I could get through this anniversary time by turning inward and just trying to be alone, but, like a horrible nightmare, 2 officers down in Fresno pushed me to just to just not be able to hold it in. My heart aches for all who have lost our heroes. Everyday i pray that I can live with Earl's kindness in my heart. I pray that I will always see his blue eyes and grinning face when I close my eyes. And every day I thank God for the time I did have with him.
You are still so loved earl. Melody

Today (2-17-2010) is a sad day for me. As I reflect on the events from 4 years ago. However, I remain thankful of our good times together in Modesto. There is nothing I wouldn't do to bring you back, nothing!!

Earl was my cousin, the closest thing I had to a second brother. Most of all he was my friend, and I miss him.

Rest in peace my friend. I'll see you when my days are done here..

with a heavy heart,
