My respect goes out to this brave soul,
May the heavens embrace his presence up above,
For yet another soldier of the law has been taken away,
May you rest eternally in the heavens above,
May the people who knew you always remember you as you were,
And may those who were not fortunate enough to have known you remember you by your sacrifice,
For not only did you live by a certain creed,
But your sacrafice is proof of your belief,
REST IN PEACE,
May the heavens always look after your loved ones as you once looked over the loved ones of other on the highways.

I am a wife of a deputy and I feel that I have lost a family member. Law enforcement is a family. Although I was never honored by meeting Officer Manny and his family I have great sorrow for his loss. My prayers go out to his wife and two beautiful children. I have been sitting here watching the funeral services on television. Even though I was not able to be there to support the family, my prayers go out to them. He was and is a hero in our community. God bless you!

My prayers and sympathy go to Officer Manny's family. I drive a tow truck and worked with Erick for the past 2 years. No matter what time it was or what day of the week, Erick always had a smile for you. I never saw him in a bad mood or unhappy. He never forgot anything I told him and would always ask for updates on my daughter and son in law while they were stationed in Iraq. Whether an I worked an impound or a wreck he always made sure that if I had to take the people with me, that they were not going to give me any problems. He was a shining example of what a law enforcement officer should be. He was one of the finest officers I have had the honor of working with. I will greatly miss his presence. The only place that is better off since his untimely death is Heaven.

I worked with Erick at our substation for 5 years. He was a great paramedic who talked everyday about being a CHP officer. He was a groomsmen in my wedding and was a brother to the other crewmwmbers of C shift. Nina, Know our prayers are with you during this difficult time.Torin and Teagan, Know he loved you both dearly. Dear Ronina, I would love to say that I knew Erick better than I did. We have been to softball tournaments together several times. I will say what I knew of Erick was that he was a wonderful person and odviously an excellent officer. He always had a smile on his face and was a joy to be around. The loss is being felt very deep in the hearts of those who knew him. I hope with all of my heart that you and the kids will be OK. I can't say that I would know what to do or how to do it, but I do hope that with time your family will be OK. Erick was and is a special part of the CHP family. My husband, who I'm sure is one of many, would do anything he could to help your family at this difficult time. He has been greatly effected by the loss of his friend and teammate. I would just hope that everyone who hears the story of a CHP officer falling in the line of duty gets to know the real story of a real man, a husband, father, friend, and genuinly good person who died doing what he felt was his duty. I have no scripture to recite, or reference to the Bible to try to make sense of this tragedy. I just know that most CHP officers feel compelled to help and protect the innocent. And even among the heroic, Erick stood out as being special. He made an extraordinary impact in many lives, in such a common way, with kindness and a smile. I hope you and your children can one day make sense of this tragedy knowing he had touched so many. He will be painfully missed, but never forgotten. This loss has touched many, even if it seems at a distance. We will miss him greatly, and we want nothing more than for you and your loved ones to find peace in this unimaginable time.

Sometimes GOD is the one who decides that it is time for a transfer. Sometimes it seems that the timing is all wrong, but GOD has a master plan for all of us. If I only learned one thing in my 25 years on the job, it's that we walk with GOD everyday, until he tells us its time to come home. May peace be with your family during this difficult time.
