Sheriff Lammy was known to have loaned people money, so He wouldn't have to forclose on their property. He also made sure that underprivileged children in Calhoun County received Christmas presents, paying for them out of his salary. The residents of Calhoun County thought so much of Sheriff Lammy, donations amounting to over one thousand dollars (in 1881) was raised to purchase and erect a large burial monument at his grave in the Hardin,IL Cemetery. Thank you Sheriff Lammy, for your service and sacrifice. May it never be forgotten.
