To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. I am privileged to pay tribute to you. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 98th anniversary year of your death.

Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

On the 95th anniversary of Deputy Warden Berry's death, we honored his service in our patrol briefing by reading his entry from ODMP. Each day, we honor one fallen officer on the anniversary of their death so as to keep them in our thoughts, and also to remind us of the dangers inherent in our job. Deputy Warden Berry is not forgotten.

Deputy Game Warden Berry,

Your sacrifice in the proud name of Law Enforcement will NEVER be forgotten. Only because of Women as well as Men like you in law enforcement can we citizens really live a life of opportunity and potential. You provide the security that is necessary. It takes a special person to be a member of this elite group and you personify all of the attributes needed to qualify. Passion, dedication, love of your fellow man and courage. As you walk the streets of Heaven - this day, this very day - I ask you, Warden Berry, please seek and find my boy, my son - Detective Jared Scott Jensen. Tell him what he already knows -- that I love him and miss him. When I join him there, in the presence of Almighty God - I want to meet you and face to face, spirit to spirit, I want to thank you for your service. I pray that God will allow that "meeting" to happen.

Sincerely,

Tom Jensen
