Your heroism and service is honored today, the one hundred and eighteenth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

At the time of his death, Clark Washington was 42 years old. He left a wife, Irene, and at least one son, Moses Washington. As was the practice at the time, black police officers in the South normally were not permitted to carry firearms. Clark was probably a former slave and had earlier been employed in an Orange lumber mill. The execution of his murderer, Archie Washington (no relation) was the first legal hanging in Orange County, Texas.
