We have lost another hero to a senseless act of negligence. He is one of the third emergency services personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in southwest Missouri, in the last five weeks...I don't have the words to express my outrage over the loss

My thoughts are with Trooper Floyd's family,

Sgt. Randy Foster
Marionville Police Department

Trooper Floyd- thank you for your many years of service to the public in Missouri as well as your service to the Highway Patrol. I didn't know you personally, but being a Trooper myself, I know the bond that is formed among us, regardless of state. My heart goes out to your family and friends and those you served with on the MSHP. As senseless as this tragedy seems, God surely needed you 'home' or he wouldn't have called your number. You can finally relax, you are at your final duty station and you've got the best commander possible. We'll take the watch down here.

Rest in peace fellow officer, Missouri has had a rough year, and unfortunately you became part of it.

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

My deepest and most heartfelt sympathy goes out to the Cheryl, the children and all of the Floyd family as well as to Kevin's MSHP 'family' at this most sorrowful time.

Our department had the opportunity of working with Kevin on several occassions and it was always such a pleasure to work with him.

Kevin was an exceptional law enforcement officer, always representing the MSHP with honor and dignity and professionalism.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him and loved him, as well as those of us who had the honor of ever meeting or working with him.
