It's been 14 years since your accident. I think of you often and how that day changed even my life forever. I was at the Marshfield McDonalds getting breakfast when I heard my fellow officer C Brown screaming for help over the radio. I was 2nd officer on scene. I'll never forget the look, the tears, the beg for help from Brown while I begged for him to be strong for us both so that we could try and get Jay help. I was put in a situation that I had no option but to be strong for both Jay and Brown, my partners! It was devastating! Jay was a great officer and his daily life showed him to be a loving husband and father. My heart goes out to his wife, children and family because he truely was a Hero! I bought a teeshirt for my oldest son after Jay passed and to this day he wears it proudly in honor of Jay and his service. Your sons would be very proud of their father. I am saddened that you had to leave them so soon

I worked at a car dealership in Poplar Bluff, MO. When Jay worked for a local radio station. He’d come out when we had a big event and talk to us on the air. I’ll always remember what a great guy he was. Now I live near where his life was taken and think of him every time I drive through the section of highway named after him. R.I.P. Jay.

Well, here it is Police Week again, and that has me thinking of all the great guys that I have worked with that have gone on the the Great Beyond. Jay, I just saw your wife and son's picture in the latest issue of the Patrol News, wow how things have changed. Jay you are sorely missed by lots of people every day, you were a great officer, friend and pilot. Its not fair how bad things happen to good people. Miss you and see you in eternity some day.

I was down at the memorial in June (6 am prior to taking DCFD test) I was just thinking of you and a D.C. Police brother on the wall (Sgt. John Ashley also a fireman.) Had to stop, find your names and think of you guys. Was a pleasure knowing you. Still remembering a great dedicated professional and family man! Will not forget you.

While we have been distracted by our lives, I cannot ever think of forgetting about you my friend.

That ride along, family moments and all of the other things that made waking up worthwhile. I will have a beer again with you one day.

I post this because an OK HP met his fate today also and I know exactly what his family is going through. I hate knowing what that feels like but if you can make a limo drivers comb-over flop in the wind again it would bring some of you to the table again.

Miss you Jay.

Miss you like a brother Jay. I can still hear the bagpipes and see the flyover. While those memories make my cry, the memories of your good spirit still make me smile.

Rest in peace good man.
