Was thinking about you tonight Big Jim...you were a kind gentle man. I was a freshman football player and you were a junior at the time, but you treated me like a brother. We became good friends. Love you man.

He was a great freind. Always positive and helpful. I did not learn about his death until recently, I'm still a little in denial. The silver lining in this is that , he left this earth doing what he loved. Good bye Jimbo, I'll miss you.

No one gave better hugs or had a better personality than JimBo!!! I think of you often and remember you as a friend, someone that just felt "safe" and made me happy to be around.

I'm glad I chose to take Typing my freshmen year of HS (1992-3!) or I would have missed the honor of knowing you.

I know you are missed heavily by those who were closest to you...and even those not so close.

Enjoy the view...

Uncle Jim,

So many years have passed since you left us, but it still hurts like yesterday. I remember dad coming to tell me you were in a accident. I remember asking if you were ok and what hospital you were in. I can't even tell you how much my world changed when Dad just started crying and couldn't even answer me for a second. Ill never for get him saying "Danielle... Uncle Jim didnt make it, baby". My entire family's life was altered from that sentence.
You were such a huge part of our life. A huge part of anyone's life who knew you. We miss you so much. I pass by your grave every single day, twice a day and I think of you every time I do. Your were my giant. A big teddy bear with a bigger heart.
I still laugh everytime I hear "Hound dog" I can still remember you dancing around and singing like the Elvis superstar you were.

Thank you for everything you were. You will always live in my heart and you will never be forgotten. I swear that to you, Uncle Jimbo.

Your only niece,

Danielle

You are still my hero

He taught me to drive a standard, in a beat up old, gray Toyota 4 wheel drive pickup truck, the first year we played football together at McNeese State University. He was a good person, a rare person that would give you the shirt off his own back if it was the only one he had. I still tell stories about my freind Jimbo....

Jim and I played football together at NLU in Monroe. He always had a smile on his face and was willing to teach a rookie new tricks. You will be missed Big Jim.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.
