As time goes by it is still hard to believe you are gone. Thinking of you and your family today and always. You are dearly loved and greatly missed!

Has it really been 7 years? How is that possible? Time has gone by so quickly and so many things have happened. Sometimes I still expect to see you at family functions. I don't know that I will ever stop looking for you and I know I will never stop missing you. You will forever be in our hearts, therefore never far away. Love ya!

HCPD Officer Chuck Haist,
As the anniversary of your passing approaches I recall the week before your death. My husband, HCPD Officer Dan Shelley and I were driving by Preston Creek apartments where we all had lived and we saw you waiting to enter Hwy 20/81. We stopped to let you pull out infront of us and we all made eye contact and you gave us a big grin and a wave..a few days later in the early morning hours of February 16th Dan received a phone call from a close friend who hysterically broke the news of your death.
I was pregnant with our daughter Chloe and admitted into the hospital the day you were buried. Dan would not leave myside but in his heart he wanted to be there to honor you not only as a dedicated fellow police officer but as a friend and brother in law enforcement.
I am proud and think of you and your family every time I pass the location of your accident where a cross was erected to memorialize and remind us of the sacrifices you made and your fellow police officers make every day.
You are gone but not forgotten.

Wish heaven had a phone so I could hear your voice again. I thought of you today, but that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday, and days before that too. I think of you in silence, I often speak your name. All I have are memories and a picture in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake, from which I'll never part. God has you in his arms...We have you in our heart! Love ya Chuck!

We gather today to remember,
the sacrifices our loved ones have made.
We will never forget those loved ones,
and the terrible price they have paid.
Their courage, dedication and professionalism
will forever be alive in our hearts.
May God, in His infinite power,
help to mend those broken parts.
There is no greater pain,
then the loss of those we love,
But we pray you will find inner strength,
with guidance from the Lord above.
It's a very tough journey you are faced with,
but together we can all make it through.
So, we gather today to remember, and share
the love for "Our Heroes in Blue.
"We know they are watching us now,
and so proud that you're all here.
They would like to see smiles not sadness;
see hope in your eyes not fear.
They are at peace with the Lord up in heaven,
and they would like us to be at peace too.
They know in their hearts how we miss them,
and they want you to know they miss you.
May you all find some solace in knowing,
that in God's eyes, they did not die in vain.
They gave their lives doing a job they believe in,
and it hurts them to see you in pain.
So as we pray for those loved ones we lost,
They would like us to pray too;
For the brave men and women still out there,
their Brothers and Sisters in Blue.
Just a person who cares

Chuck - I can't believe six years has already gone by since we lost you. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of you when I pass by the accident site. Your loss is still felt to us here at the PD; please keep looking down on us and keeping us safe!

I cannot believe it has been 6 years. So many things have happened in that time, and your absence is greatly felt always. You are missed as much now as you were then. Maybe even more so now. You had so much life left to live, and it still saddens me that it was cut short. We still get together and remember you, your light will shine forever through those who love you. You may be gone, but you will NEVER be forgotten. Heros live forever!

Man, I cannot believe it has been 6 years. I still think of and speak of you often. Brittany and I will be speaking at the CAP class in a couple of weeks and you and your sacrifice opened my eyes to the life of an officer. I admire you more than you know for what you accomplished in your short time here. God Bless and take care,

Another year has come and gone, crazy as it seems. Another round of holidays without you here. So many new things are coming our way in 2011, wish you could be with us for all of them. Instead we will mark our 6th year without you, how time flies. We have lost 2 officers in Georgia this week, and everytime we lose one, it just brings losing you back to the surface. Just know that you are loved and greatly missed! Til next time...

I was thinking about you today and appreciating not only your service to our country, but you service in law enforcement. I haven't been on here in awhile, but that doen't mean that I don't miss you and think of you often. I think this is the harded time of year with Thanksgiving coming up, no matter what, you would always be there. It hasn't been the same without you there to liven things up the way you always did. I still can't believe, even after 5 years, that you are gone...but NEVER forgoten! I love you!

Chuck,
I was just sitting here thinking about friends and people I knew who "paved the way", and naturally your name came into my mind. So long as people remember you I guess you are never truly dead. Anyway, I just wanted to say "hi".
Take it easy.

I still think about you all the time and miss you very much! It has been so crazy over the past 5 years how many people have come forth in your honor. You would be very proud. A friend of mine lost her brother not long ago and he was a Police officer in Alabama. I told her about this site and I hope it has helped her as much as it has helped so many people that come to "talk" to you. You will always be Boogies!

well bro, you have another one of your brothers in blue today. I hate for those left behind but I am sure you will welcome him with open arms. Wish you were here brother. I miss talking and laughing with you. Got to meet Lieutenant Rosen last night. Awesome man who reminds me of you. I envy the brotherhood you guys have. I completely can see you in that job better now than I ever could have before. Love you bro,

Today would have been your 38th birthday, unfortunately you are not here to celebrate it. Know that you are loved and missed as much now as you were 5 years ago. We are going to go ride go carts and play putt-putt tomorrow and will be thinking of you. Wish you could be there other than just in spirit. Gone, but not forgotten.

bro, it has been a while. I had a link to this page but my laptop crashed.. anyway, I am sure you know the hole your absence has left. We have all carried on, but life without you is not the same. Dad and I are attending the HCPD citizens police academy and I must say, seeing the inside helps me understand why you did the things you did. The respect the job requires and how each officer has one another's back is what made this country. It is a privelege to get to participate. We still miss you and think of and talk about you often. Cannot wait to see you again! We all love you bro!

5 years, I cannot believe it has been 5 years. You are missed as much now as you were then. Maybe even more. As I sit and think about everything that has gone on in the last 5 years, I am amazed. We did find a way to go on. Life, although not the same, is good. And although thinking of you still hurts and still brings tears to my eyes, it is easier to remember how much fun we used to have. Jay reminds me sooo much of you, sometimes I swear he is channeling you. He has a little senister laugh that reminds me of you. It makes me smile when he is acting silly and being "Chuck" like. We have decided this year to remember you by doing something that you would like to do. We are going to ride go carts and play putt-putt. Oh, if I had a dime for every round of putt-putt we have played or go cart we have raced... It will be bittersweet, but I know you would be like..."ok, enough with the tears already, go have some fun!" So, we will be, in memory of you! Love ya, Cuz!

Chuck,
I just wanted to visit you before your anniversary. Ang and I are leaving for our trip with my dad and won't be here on the day. I will think of you while we are gone and know that I am carrying the item with me to remind me of you.
Take care man.
