Every year I coordinate our city's annual memorial service and every year I visit you to put it in perspective. Fresh back from the world war you volunteered to serve during a time of need. You made the ultimate sacrifice on your first day. Your photograph haunts me while I put the parts of our service together to honor you and all of our other heroes with you. Your sacrifice is a true testament to putting others above yourself and you will never be forgotten.

Your heroism and service is honored today as we approach the 9oth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service.

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer. He was shot twice when ambushed on April 23rd when he was on a foot pursuit of two bank robbers. Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.
