I can’t believe it’s almost been 16 years you’ve been gone. It feels like only yesterday I was woken up in the middle of the night and told that something had happened and that we needed to race to the hospital. I can’t believe it’s been so many years. I had more to say, but I’m getting choked up just typing this much. I made it Jay. I made it and I’m an officer now just like I always wanted. I hope you’re proud. Looking down on me and watching over me. Keeping me safe and helping me through the day. It still hurts like hell when somebody asks about my memorial tattoo or the bracelet I wear. So many people say I look like you. Especially in uniform. I still don’t see it but it makes me smile every time somebody says it. I love you and miss you buddy. Until we meet again, I have it from here.

As the mother of a military police officer, I admire greatly how his parents have carried on his call to serve the community.

I am humbled and inspired by those who serve.

Thank you for being a mentor in my early days on MPD, and always being a friend even after you left to work for the State. 21 years later I still find myself emulating your approach to work. You will always be missed.

Jay,

Thinking of you on this 12th anniversary of your tragic death. A role model, friend, and family member taken too soon. Not a day goes by you are not thought of by the lives you've touched down here. Thanks for your dedication to both the fire department and law enforcement. The world is a better place because you lived.

Jay, I had the chance and the honor of meeting and sitting with your family on a Sunday afternoon, and must say I've never met nicer people. Ironically, we both live in New Berlin. Thank you sir for your service. You gave the ultimate sacrifice and I salute you sir. May you rest in piece. My heart go's out to your family and pray that they may fine some healing each and every day. God Bless them.

Jay,
Since becoming a police officer in southeastern Wisconsin in 2008, I have heard many tales about Jay the cop and firefighter. You are sorely missed by all of us, but never forgotten.
Your death, while senseless, was not in vain.
You were a great cop and an inspiration for all of us to endeavor to do this job better.

"May the road always rise to meet you"

Eight years have passed and each year it seems that some people forget about you. There are those that love you though that will never forget about you and will never let your memory die for you are a true hero and heroes never die. Continue to keep watch over your loved ones and protect them from harm. Thank you for being the hero that you are and for your dedicated service to law enforcement. You have not been forgotten
