Your heroism and service is honored today, the 88th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was murdered on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Sgt. Wheless, today marks the 84th anniversary of your murder. You gave your life while in the act of protecting one of the most vital assets of the American economy, especially at the time of your death. The killer who took you from your family has become a footnote and largly forgotten. You, on the other hand are remembered here and honored as a hero.
